Harrisons came in chevys ... early heaters were clamshell style rounds

They show up on eBay and are very close in look to the denso... as well as Bosch and the Brit stufff like Clayton

That one is most likely 50’s

oh, I’ve got a clamshell. It’s going In my LV.

I only posted the Harrison to show another vintage aftermarket heater.

This is what came with my 62 fj40. I have never seen one like it. Sorry for the bad pic. Only one i have right now.

Hi, Did you ever find out what make this heater was in your red 1962 FJ40? I've got one just like it in my 1963. Did the factory install it?

since the other thread is closed, i'll start a new one. assuming it's a heater...haven't really had time to tear into it. since it's a softtop and there are the remains of a fan on the dash, i kind of figure it's not an ac unit

Older thread and these posts are old, but my ‘64 FJ40 has the exact same heater. I always thought it was an aftermarket heater, but after seeing these posts I assume this was the stock heater?? It works great, but I’ve been wanting to get a smaller heater bc this one is rather large, but if it is original……

Thats a aftermarket heater.

This is the first Toyota installed heater in FJ40/45s in the USA market, probably the smallest besides the Clam shell heater.

That heater was probably a common brand that dealers or owners put on, kind of like the Hupp heaters.

I wasn’t sure where to put this but I didn’t want to start a new thread when I could just add to this one.

I finally found a clamshell for my ‘63. However it’s a Nippo/Bosch version. Does anyone know if the Nippo/Bosch version was ever used in early LC’s?

I’ve included some pics and would appreciate an estimate on value to see if the price ($450) is reasonable for the condition?
