Thoughts on the first 20-30 miles.

Engine and Sniper are great. Very smooth.

Transmission/Tcase are tight. Not noisy at all.

Engine runs a little warmer than most. 205 when I’m in the highway in 4th. I am going to get a 180 thermostat and see if that changes.

The alternator /external regulator are a bit bonkers. The factory gauge it pegged and the Sniper has it at 14.5 steady and if you turn anything on it goes UP to 15.5. I tried a new OEM external regulator and it did the same thing. I’m going to get a internal regulator alternator and just bypass all that s***.

The steering box is a bit sloppy. Gonna see if Darin is up for a Redhead rebuild when I install the Electric PS.

Overall it’s an A- right now. I think a few tweaks will get it an A+

Sweet Baby Jesus! Finally some good news today. Knew those painters did a crap job on the reassembly. I did include that seal with my hoard of parts didn’t I?
Yep. You gave me a full pack of rubbers.
 
This truck was missing this tub seal. It’s back on and I had a pack of OEM inner strips here too.

Neither mine nor @OlYellr early 1980 had that tub seal. My top had most certainly never been off. Wonder how necessary or not it is?

I’ve never seen it on any of the tops I’ve removed but I add it to all I reinstall.

This is what is normally on the 40s that I take the top off of.

I saw that when ordering all the goods for my hardtop repair and figured since it wasn’t on already I’d just ride rubberless at least in that zone.

Since it’ll be awhile until my top is done I’m in no hurry. Just collecting information.

That goes on the flat spot where the bolts go in

 
Rolling these amby doors up

The drivers side has a little rot but I killed it with rust converter. I’ll soak it in Fluid Film when the WS sets up
