Looks good, and they appear to have enough thread left to hold. Currently following all three threads where you've posted these spacers. You should list a retail price......unpainted, you know, for those interested.

(I wonder if they make industrial type, thick, washers, like a real big thick fender washer that would do the same thing...?)

Your lower control arm bushing are relatively soft and they move back and forth. Wheel torque going reverse push the wheel back a bit. You could adjust the caster to max. It would give more fender clearance. You do this by adjusting the rear cam bolt fully out and the front fully in.

That's good beta. I thought something was at play when drivetrain was engaged. this makes sense.
I got it alligned. The passenger rear caster plate is maxed out while driver rear is about half maxed. I figured with the caster angle of the strut tower that the puck probably exacerbated this and wondered if I could pull it back with less caster. But doesn't the car track better on highway with some caster?

At any rate. that's good beta and maybe i could lean over the tech's shoulder (cuz I know they LOVE it when I go in the back during my alignments and ask about setting the plates as you suggested..

As I posted in the leveling spacer thread,

It's probable something similar exists in industrial-landia, but I'm FAR from anything like a city or steel yards or anything a regular person can reliably get by going across town or to the industrial zone
So we gotta be a little inventive

I've got a buddy who builds crawlers and sometimes I score some of his scrap drops. That's where this plate came from.

Also, I've found a scrap pile behind the shop I get my welding gas from, I raid their pile simi-regularly...

@runningdrew reminded me I've cross-posted this beta in many places, so I'll keep the main info in my build thread. So here's the detail on how these spacers came to be.


Scrap 1/4" plate steel

I traced a 2" hole saw blade and tried a hole saw on the drill press, but it was a wood blade so I killed it. I'd also drilled out the center hole with a pilot hole on drill press.

So then I used the portaband and a cut-off wheel on an angle grinder to cut off the corners, then I theaded a 1/4 bolt in it and attached it to the drill and spun it whil knocking off the edges with a flapwheel on a grinder till I got it pretty darn round. I drilled out the center hole and painted it

I also have a scrap piece of 3/8" steel I want to make another set of spacers out of should I think I need taller.

So by this time water was running pretty well and we got the E Hill waterfall in the pic with my buddy driving out

We pulled to the visitors' center pavement to air up

and i love the heckling flak I got in Chit Chat for having this pump,
BUT, the 88p put 10 PSI in 4 33's in 10 minutes, so there's that... for a bicycle pump.
It was a great trip, and while we're bummed we weren't in for the 2 nights, we're glad we got out when we did. We probably could've still made it out an hour later, but no regrets with our decision.

and only minimal requisite kid injury when playing on a downed juniper in camp

but the kid's tough... way tougher than I am!!!

I will say the lift vis-a-vis stock via the 3/4" puck leveler was noticeable!!

Last spring when we drove out the backside one-way from beef basin through elephant hill, I tapped/scraped the skid like 6 times and the hitch 8-9 times. On this trip doing the whole elephant hill loop I touched the mid plate twice and the hitch 6 times (rear aired to high, and maintained high with slow 4lo driving). I didn't do any wheel well videography of the sway bars in action or the bump stops. Maybe I can set that up on another local trail this fall. I'd really like to see those shots. But with one trail down post spacer, I'd say it's effective and being cautious of the bump stop concern mentioned ad nauseam previously, recommendable as a functional entry means of gaining a little clearance under the front skid plate.

I picked up my GX with the plan of building it out by the time my daughter (currently 11 mo) is a few years old. I've been here in Utah for 13 years and have been eyeing the Maze District for about 11.5 of those. Thanks for the Needles trip report, and I will be eagerly watching for your Maze trip!

We've been in moab for 10, and had the GX now for 2, so now we can comfortably get to the places I threatened to take my Suby to, but now it's with confidence not exceeding comfortable capability
Yeah, the maze has been on the radar for a decade!! There's SO much exploring to do and now with comfort and confidence, we're psyched!!

Congrats on the wee nugget. We've got 2 now, 6&8. It sounds the cliche, but it's totally legit; It's crazy how quickly time goes!

nice! That's a mod I'd like, common air fittings (all my current are NPTs). BTW, do you have a similar handle on other forums? suby speed or something similar in the roo world?

Thanks for posting that trip report. Brings back some great memories! We have been making annual trips over spring break to the Canyolands/Moab area for about 6 years, but missed last year.

One trip we hit the bottom of Elephant Hill right at dark and didn’t see the signs. Two of us made the tight switch back after multi point turns. We figured it out finally when it was our last guy’s turn who had a trailer. Talk about trusting us as spotters with flashlights. Spent the night at split top.

We started that trip going into the Doll house in the Maze, which was awesome. That was an epic trip and got to most camps well after dark.

Good chance I’ll be down that way the second weekend in Nov.

Epic E HIll in the dark w/o pull-in back-up (That chant is still in my head from the kids.. i wish I'd've recorded it. it's awesome And yeah, It blows the mind that people trailer that trail!! My buddy almost stepped off the edge when spotting me around that rock in the path on the upper pull-in back-up spot.

@CO_Hunter Are you coming to Moab or the Maze in November?
Our November Maze permit is 5-night (maybe a 6th on the way out) w/ shoulder days for travel; from 19-23.
IIRC we have 2 nights at overlook, 1 night at standing rock and 2 nights at the doll house.
