Karen and I took a spin around the neighborhood last night. Been doing an engine swap so neither of us have been riding much. Got to see a cool little toad hopping by on his way to somewhere.

It was so nice to just stretch the legs and feel a breeze, and not be muscling around engine stuff.

I spent most of the day playing IT guy for our family. I stayed entertained by watching the replay of this morning's xco races in Andorra. At about 4:00 in the afternoon, I figured out that my Synology disk station didn't care if I stacked up a whole bunch of download projects and then left it alone to churn away at them. So I did that and took a bike ride.

Although I stayed entertained while being the IT guy, I did not consume very many calories. So, as most of my rides go, I bonked at about the 45 minute mark. I still had a couple hours to go, so I just rode along in survival mode as quickly as I could and enjoy the enjoyable parts.

It wasn't till I was picking my way through civilization on the way home that things got interesting. Keep in mind I have a pretty low bar for that kind of thing. First off, I saw some person who had painted his 80 like a Duracell battery. Looked pretty cool. But it sounded like a stearman biplane. Don't know what was going on under that hood. And then I had to ride through a very nasty squall. Also pretty cool.

5 days on the Mogollon Rim with Jenna…to escape the heat…

First two days doing Arizona Trail volunteer work cleaning up trail, building drainages, etc. it’s good to give back the Arizona Trail which has done so much for my life:

Did my longest ride of the season. Just about 16 miles with over 800 feet of climbing. Well over 70% humidity and ending temperatures of over 80. In other words, drenched in sweat and now tired.

I did see two e-mountain bikers this morning. Not there yet, I like pounding the trails under my own volition.

To reach the distance, I tacked on a loop that I used to ride frequently. It was a good time, lots of rocky ridges and tight corners in the woods.

Like Nina Simone belting out a tune, I’m feeling good!

Wait, I see gears. I thought you were a fixie guy now???

Been off grid quite a bit so not posting much but still riding 2-3 times a week over multiple states. Finally got a chance to post a ride today. Came up on a bear, rode some nice Aspen groves, wished I rode this lift up on a 1700’ climb, seeing lots of snow up high and bombed a stupid steep hill.

modified Prouty gravel:hybrid 4).png

40 miles - mix of pavement and gravel....first coolish/low humidity day around here for abit...longest ride I've done in awhile....Need to do more....

Post popped up on one of the local(ish) mountain bike buy, swap and sell pages with someone looking for a QR 29er 6 bolt disc rear wheel... I ignored it, as I didn't think I could help - they're 3.5 hrs away.

Turns out a friend was up visiting this weekend from there, and I thought she'd gone back to today but is going tomorrow. She can take a spare wheel I have here (got free, and canabilised for useful parts for me already) that matches that spec which gets the other guy out of trouble. He was also stoked this wasn't going to cost him anything (other than some drink)... which is a bonus as he's up for a new carbon rim otherwise....

Paying it forward feels good... and one less thing in my shed...

Woke up early and did this for the girl's (middle kid) Gen 1 Taco.

Soaked my clothes in sweat. And I really would prefer not to use the spring compressor, but the job's gotta get done.

Rehydrated with coffee and water. Rode 20 miles on dirt in cloudy weather.

Then pizza out with the girl before she heads back to grad school tomorrow. She's rocking the oh-so-classic, seasonally correct tee

Some spontaneous decent weather in phx today. 88 on my ride, finally got to shake down the new megatower.

@OGBeno rode part of the route i took you on (xc territory) and this thing made it zero fun. It’s like riding a couch 🤣 need to get it on National soon.

Had to go around a Bull snake today 'cause he wasn't gonna move or do anything. Luka didn't spot him, and wasn't sure what he would've done anyway! Luka cried uncle toward the end
