Ya, it's summer time.

Took the new bike out for a spin today; the local club were doing a road ride finishing at a brewery, so I arranged for my return transport to meet me there after I did my own ride meeting them there as well.

A few technical hitches showed up as this was the shakedown ride; the seatpost needs to really be cranked down on the saddle rails to hold the angle right, so I need to investigate that more, and I was probably a bit keen with the anti-seize on the seatpost so that kept slipping down! Luckily I had the allen keys with me to reset both. Otherwise, it was a great 24km (220m of climbing) with the new bike. Rock solid descending on the tar at 60km/hr, climbing nicely (there are some bitey little climbs in there) and just felt quick.

Some night riding last night in Tucson.

I dig that feeling of riding in a cocoon of light, when in the moment you have no evidence of what's going on in the rest of the world. Or if it even exists.

Today I rode hard stuff. Along the way I passed this slow-mover imitating my weenor.

This is me acting like "I know I got this" when really I knew no such thing.

And I include this shot of me because the dirt on my leg made my quad look as formidable as Cati's 😂

I haven't been on the bike much lately. My shoulder injury has been acting up the last month or so. But, was able to get out this morning. Probably should've gone for an easier ride. That's not my style though. So, one of the roughest trails in the valley it is! Was having a good time, until I got a side wall puncture. Which wouldn't seal with a plug. So had to toss in a tube, which then also flatted a few miles later. Luckily I guess, only had a mile left, so a nice little hike back to my truck.

The good side though-one of my favorite things in the desert are these big old Utah junipers. Most people don't realize that a lot of these trees are over 1000 years old. Love the twisted, knarly roots and trunks, that come from years of abuse and perseverance.

Hot as hell in the desert. I can only deal with so much heat on dirt roads….

Man, they'd have to send a sag wagon to retrieve me from that creek haha.

went to the mountains with my two sons some friends and a nephew. hit some excellent trails and really wore ourselves out! 21 km first day 13 the second. excellent single track with lots of elevation change. had over 406m the first day but my phone died 16km in so would have been more over the last 5km. 356m elevation the second day!!

And... the solution for the moving saddle was to read the torque setting on the seatpost.... 160 in/lb (18NM) torque needed.

The torque setting was on the seatpost, just under the bolt... and translated to FT... I did it up with my long allen keys but that wasn't enough once I put the torque wrench on it for a few turns... then tried to get it tighter with the allen key as a "feel-o-meter" and that didn't want to play, so it is definitely in the FT range of torque!

Be out again this weekend, so looking forward to that. Not sure on the ride for this weekend, but unlikely to involve brewery beer afterwards :(
