also. how did the amby hinges look? i guess you got them. i have been so so busy that i have not followed up with you about them.

Killer. Be the least rattling, smoothest function ambi-doors this side of the Atlantic.

I took pics, but can't find. Will post up when I get back to them.

How'd the tailgate work?

Don't forget, I need the keyed locket portion back, since it matches the doors.

Hopefully, it's easy enough to transplant, otherwise, I'm going to continue the hunt for 4 door lock sets and with rear manual crank locket to match.

Jacked with the '76s gate today, since I had to have it functional, and still haven't located the electrical gremlin. It appears that the PO attempted to bypass the safety switch , at the switch, and something got hot.

I'd care, if it were staying, but IF, being operative, this cobbled up, reinforced without welding, gate is ever used on anything of mine, it'll be the pork chop and no glass or internals will be necessary.

Big day for the '76.....though I can't fully divulge the circumstances, due to pending legal wrangling and processes, but I'm glad the day had come.

Have everything on hand for the mechanical portion, except the dizzy at Jim C's, the mini truck power steering gear box pedestal, and expected, but unknown curveballs the Redheaded 2F is going to throw at us.

Once again, my standard MO, since the horse is pushing the cart, but I wouldn't know any other way to do it, so no point in upsetting the cart, now.

When does work commence?

Soon.

Yesterday, sniffing Jeep arse....

At the door to surgery....

Chris,

What's the surgeon's play list look like? Just the mechanical issues or full face lift?

Chris, What's the surgeon's play list look like? Just the mechanical issues or full face lift?

Mechanical.

Cliffs, but will document for posterity in the near future.

Building the Redheaded 2F, H55, split case, 3F manifolds, 3F carb, Big Cap dizzy and ignition, 3FE alternator, power steering pump, and compressor, and getting all happy and running right.

Power steering gearbox rebuild and install, steering links, axles, brakes, all planned in the downtime balance is being machined.

Host of other tasks that coincide with. Two part epoxy coating all that is removed or planned to be part of the finished product, possible electrical alterations, since there's some unknowns, that will be the blue print for a future harness.

Leafs, shocks, few other miscellaneous items that make sense to do, concurrently with other major mechanical.

Facelift will come after, since the stars didn't align for the more sensible plan, that was many months in the making and fell apart in the final hours, to develop.

Before I take grief over outsourcing, my plan is for this Pig to replace my current DD, so that I can liquidate current DD while it's still worth half of just the aftermarket components I've installed.

My goal was to have this done by March, but betting I'll be lucky to see September, that's if I can get the body work underway soon , which seems unlikely, considering the scope with the ambi doors.

Regardless, my dues will be paid on the '72 and '71, since I'm not on a schedule for either.

of next year....
you meant March or September of next year, didn't you?
you're a frickin optomist...
ask BogusOne about his 40 sometime:flipoff2:

My contingency plan is to complete this portion, being mechanical, and reassessing timeline after, possibly driving before body work is 100% done.

Short of the gearbox pedestal, exhaust, leafs, shocks, and the dizzy/ignition at Jim C's, all other components were loaded in the Pig.

The pistons, rings, rods, lifters, bearings, camshaft and valves, have all been frozen, already, so a matter of stripping it and getting all to the machine shop, which the area's notable for many that are proficient.

Now, all that sounds good typed out, but in all honesty, I don't have a clue what delays may be around each corner, nor have I even asked how long to expect.

Soooo.....

You may be right.

Britt picked up the '72 in July and estimated October......

This is about a week ago.....

So, I have no clue what to expect beyond what I'm told. In Britt's defense, he'd never laid eyes on a Pig before and neither of us were fully aware of the depths the rot consumed.

That said, mechanical should be a little smoother, since this is not the first of the F Series lineup that have undergone complete rebuilds.

He knows his stuff, so I'd anticipate an efficient operation, on the whole, barring any issues with my choice of newer components that are being adapted to the earlier block.

digging the plans Delancy. I do not envy you and your project however the other side will be worth the wait. I am dealing with mechanical that should have been dealt with before a complete body overhaul so think your tacking in the correct order.

keep the updates coming. It makes my project seam somewhat manageable. :)

I kid I kid...but really, is any pig truly DONE? where's the fun in that?:p carry on...

especially if you are paying someone.

I'll pay my dues on the other one ( or two ), if my sense of tone in typed text is correct.....

This opportunity presented itself and may shave a year off the "build", being that much less I'll maintain the DD that the Pig will be replacing, hopefully translating into a higher sale price.

It's like a buddy is building, not like it was dropped off at a large shop. That matters to me, in the same way parts acquisition is a collaborative effort between Onur and I, not a typical relationship.

One thing I know is, it'll be done right....something that I couldn't guarantee with local resources. Mark A. agreed and, pretty much, talked me out of attempting, considering all the oddities surrounding.

That wasn't a dig man, I was meaning faster than you wrenching nights and weekends ;) I was referring to a shop though, they typically want to get it finished so they can work on the next one to pay the bills. If you've worked out something else then only you know what you're getting in to ...

I just love pigs and am tagging along for the ride ... and occasionally throwing out my $.02!

I've been lurking around on u our thread...

Justin,

Thanks, but haven't done much, yet. Getting there though.

Was moments away from calling y'all a week ago to see what the schedule was looking like for, at least, minor body work (anything that would make sense to do with the body off the frame) but figured my piss poor planning doesn't constitute an pseudo-emergency for anyone else, plus have no means to transport the shell the 80 miles south to Colorado Springs.

Like the sliders and bumpers on your Pig. Still fabbing ?
