South American import; I'd be very, very careful ...

Besides being an import it has had many modifications including steering, carb and distributor, AC. Pictures were also taken prior to tires listed in ad. There is also something wonky about the tubular crossmember behind the transfer case. Not to mention KPH speedo.

Um 8000 pic's of the outside of a working 4x4 is worthless to me. Old LC are for actual use not showroom models IMHO. I'd rather see a vid of it going threw all the gears up and down a grade. Maybe an oil analysis of all the fluids. How about dry wet compression #'s.

I'll bet their reserve is north of 40K and I doubt it will sell, but in 6 days we will have the answer.

don't get sucked in by some nice looking pics,
it's the small things that are overlooked that add up
I would not do anything without seeing it in person

South America with a lipstick resto job..
With a weber...lol.
The one decent thing those imports normally have is the non smogged carbs and the big aircleaner box.

I wish we had triple or quadruple likes for messages. @charliemeyer007 is spot on. We really can't tell much of anything from pictures after a refresh. All we have to go on is prior experiences on these south american models. Some pics of prior condition, how the refresh was done, and current mechanical run through is absolutely needed to give a rational answer.

I wish I didn't have to say that in the past 10 years, 100% of FJ40s I have seen on eBay were sketchy or misrepresented. I wouldn't touch it without an in-person inspection. I buy a fair amount on eBay, and have nothing against the platform, but it sure is a magnet for sketchy FJ40s.

The 50 amp reading in the guage of the cluster combined with 41 mile odo scream chinese knock off

No one is going to mention the hideous mandarin orange interior set against that olive green paint?? I’m all for people’s personal tastes and the whole “different strokes for different folks” thing, but that color combo clashes so horrendously that it’s hard for me to look at. Olive is so good already on its own, it’s seems a shame to ruin it with that bright orange. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me…but it makes me feel a little nauseous if I look at it too long.

I agree with the your comments on that color combination but maybe this is what they were going for. They could have cleaned the vinyl up a bit so that it didn't look so nasty. But yes why that color choice for the interior
