Sadly I didn’t document, but I was texting Paul sharing learnings and am confident his write up will be better anyway! Some big learnings, need to cut the rear roof pillar mounts to get it to sit properly, also getting the nuts on the pillar brackets is tough. The two options we could think of was to thread the holes (did this for the a pillar bracket) or cut an access hole to secure the nut from above (did this on the rear pillars).Did you document the install? Would love to see pictures.
Not unique to the AluInnovations. Same story for AluCab unfortunately. So these did not come with any installation primers or instructions?![]()

That’s why generally the conversions are sold and installed by a select few garages. They have had the experience in installing these and learned their own tricks over the years.Yeah: Great business idea: sell a super expensive product to a bunch of rich white dudes with old trucks and let them figure it out.
Sounds like a customer service nightmare.
There is a pretty detailed installation guide put together by Mission 4x4 in Australia; it's posted earlier in this thread. There are also a couple of installation documents for the Alu-Cab Hercules top available on the web, as well as installation videos on Youtube. A combination of all all of those resources made my installation relatively painless. Sure, there were some difficulties, but nothing insurmountable with a methodical approach. So these did not come with any installation primers or instructions?![]()
A. Cut hole in troopy roof
B. Put poptop in place
C. Sikaflex literally everything
D. Enjoy.

Luckily, I'm happy taking responsibility for my own actions and didn't really care about a warranty. I was very happy that they would sell directly to a consumer and that I could do the install myself. I haven't found a shop that really backs up any of their own work so that didn't concern me, and contrary to the statement @OGBeno made, we are not all a "bunch of rich white dudes". The only way this was doable for me was doing it myself and buying direct from the manufacturer. Total costs were not much more than an expensive roof top tent with a much better end result; easy decision, but a definitely a personal one.Hello,
True.
Then there are the warranty details. If something goes wrong, it is easy to claim that there is no implicit warranty whatsoever, as a result of "improper" installation. And no consumer protection claims either.

Perhaps this should be moved up to “step A”.You summed it up very succinctly, 4 easy steps and job done.

any one of us in a position to even own one of these vehicles - let alone purchase a pop-top conversion - are rich. Maybe not Elon or Bezos rich but in the global sense we are extremely wealthy to be in a position to have these expensive toys. Important to remember that.Luckily, I'm happy taking responsibility for my own actions and didn't really care about a warranty.
