Ever do it on a vertical surface?
Everything at this point is spot welds anyway, so it SHOULD be pretty easy to control the gravity effects, but Im just curious.

Yes, but not very large holes......probably nothing more than a quarter to half inch for me. Maybe fill a little then let it cool and then finish if it's bigger.

I did the spot welds when I changed out my corners using the copper trick, just c-clamped the copper so i didn't have to hold it or anything. If I couldn't c-clamp it I would use the big magnets that overlapped the copper on each side to hold it on

I think theres a vise grip tool available too. Its got a brass or copper pad on the one side and a fork pad on other side. Maybe Matt had shown pics on one of his 45 threads?

A lot of the questions you're asking regarding trans', xfer cases, and gearing are the same ones I've been mulling. So many ideas of what to do yet going with what works within the wallet is sometimes maddening.

Yeah, this addiction is MADDENING!
Im reasonably certain that if I get creative with the springs, hangers and motor placement, it will work.
Ill try maxing out the rear hangers first.

Ill be heading home in Jan. Cant wait for some Lou Malnattis pizza!

There of course are some low spots that will be filled with bondo...Its not worth it to me to keep chasing those and risk the overall integrity of the steel by grinding the fawk out of it, so in learning from my past mistakes...fill it is.

Even with your new Atlas set up? If so, I'll be stoked, but I'm a bit worried with my 30 spline LF, Polys and 37s on my 60.

Got a rear axle today. I was tipped off by locrawlin that they had a cash for clunkers 60 at the PnP...Found out they had TWO that Jack hadnt seen one of which had the rear axle OUT! All I had to do was yank the e brake assy. (I could use it anyway) and she was free.
The other one had the springs attached along with all the other crap. made a valiant attempt at those, but they were seized and I was running out of time. Also, I had forgotten about the tack weld on the hanger pin...It was a pretty good tack they did.

This is the reason I havent been on the 60's board.
Dont wanna let ANY time get away from workin on this thing. Im rigless for one, and there has been many-o-projects that have died SITTING for too long.

No broken axle parts since the atlas, :touchwood: My truck is pretty lite compared to a 60 however.

I expect to break a rear axle sometime, after one or two of those I'll spend the 400 on chromos.
