Has anyone bought carpet from rockauto.com? They have dark brown and other colors, complete carpet kit for 240 bucks. Even has tailgate and wheel wells. Any input would be appreciated. I think shipping is $60. And turn around is one day I believe. I think I saw someone on here selling carpet for really inexpensive. I have no carpet so I want some. Thanks for opinions.....

I ordered a set 2 days ago from Rock Auto. It says it's the ACC brand which is the same as the other linked carpet set above. I called Rock Auto and they said it was a new item. Sounds like the same product at Walmart volume pricing. I had to investigate. Plus needed a grey set for a local customer if it works out.

I'll report back in a day or two. $265.49 shipped from I believe Alabama to California.

So did Rock Auto pull a Trail Gear on @dnp?

I figure ACC wanted more sales and they went to Rock Auto or Rock Auto saw a market and pursued it . I bet we see Carid and a few others carrying it in the next few months as well.

Maybe dnp knew it was coming hence the lower June 1 pricing. He may have inventory he's trying to push out. I don't know just rambling.

Both are mud vendors... But seems since he helped bring it to market he'd have some sort of pricing to match the big box vendor.

Unfortunately it's the marketing and resale world we live in.

I know all the work he went through to make it happen. It was a huge undertaking shipping whole trucks back and forth to the company. He even made them work the colors 2-3 times to get them spot on.

That’s the way of the game as you say.

Well not sure what anyone else thinks about the ACC carpet from RockAuto... I received it today.

I'm completely disgusted with it... Carpet grade is some of the lightest and cheapest I've ever seen. The carpet was formed with the weave/grain over the trans hump and larger contours so the weave has already started to open up and when you hold it up to the light you can see the only thing holding it together is the resin backing. Once that breaks down over a hot summer it will start tearing. This has 1/8"+ gaps between the weaves where the heat forming has pulled the weave apart.

The grey color is not the blue grey, more of a putty grey.

I've already contacted RockAuto and received a return label for this 265.49 box of s***... Pic #3, I actually stuck my finger through the carpet.

I'd steer clear of the ACC carpet from RockAuto.

@g-man was this in line with yours?

I didn't notice any weave separation. Maybe you just got a bad batch. It is rather thin carpet. Jute laminated to the underneath of the carpet was for me was in the wrong spot. I thought maybe it was more designed for fj62. There was a square spot w/out jute more rearward on the hump. Is the auto shifter (62) more rearward in the truck and diagonally from the transfer case shifter? Anyway I had to cut ...more like hack the jute off that area so the 10mm screws for the boot would reach to the floor. Here's a few pics of mine installed. I'm ok with it, but I'm not too fussy. I thought the trans hump was a little big and is puffy in places. Might not be a problem if your putting down some underlayment .ie eastwoods or dynamat or just more jute. Also I did NOT glue to the floor because I know I'll end up pulling it before long to work on a rusty hole in the floor. compared to home carpet that I had, and the original carpet before that it looks great.

Because I was on my computer doing some graphic work, heres DNP's carpet next to ACC.
Looks like the edging, pile and fit is higher quality in DNP's

I have a Trail Tailor set of carpet, but screwed up something while cutting it. It looks fine and absolutely no one would know, but it bugs me enough.
So I picked up a dnp carpet he had ACC make.

It is still in the box and so I will pull it out tomorrow and have a look. Initial look was it looked ok when I opened the box.

I have used ACC carpets in the past for everything from a Bronco to a Chevelle, I ordered direct from them and never had a problem. Wonder if the Rock Auto stuff is seconds. Lately I have been pissed off by Rock Auto and have sent a ton of crap back to them.

Maybe 2nds or 3rds... but how do you sell something with a hole in it.... :censor:

OK so the picture attached.

Carpet on the panel = OEM
Carpet on the floor = Trail Tailor
Capet at the bottom (looks like it is cut) is a wheel well carpet and is ACC/dnp's

OEM is OEM and looks nice.

TT's is a bit heavier duty

ACC/dnp looks ok mine does not have any of the issues that Jason mentioned. It is thinner than TT's but about the same as OEM. However it is very grey and the grayest of the three. My rear panel carpet is faded and TT's is much closer to the front doors and the over all quality is closest to OEM in color and if anything much heavier duty. I have no regrets.

@reevesci Jason do you have any more coming in. I need to redo my front carpet this summer. (after my trip to Colorado in July as there is no time before.

Perhaps someone who bought the Rock Auto version can send a snippet of carpet to dnp so he can see if they are using cheaper carpet for that line. I would think ACC would risk pissing off everyone if they start using random cheap carpet in some of their kits.

I am no expert on automotive carpets but I was very happy(so far) with the ACC carpet I received from rockauto, I have not installed it but I have inspected it, if anyone really wants me to pull it back out of the box I will, and when I trim it I will gladly send any trimmings to dnp or to anyone who wants to inspect it. I am not sure when I will be installing it, but within the next couple weeks. If money were not an option I would love to support the land cruiser community unfortunately I can't always do that, sometimes the option for me is buy cheap or do without. Here are some pics:

The ACC carpet I got from DNP was the same quality I have put into other vehicles. That is why I bought it. I have never had any issues with carpet from them, but normally I buy directly from ACC. The one I put into my 1970 Chevelle and my 86 Bronco was exactly the same quality as OEM.
The one I got from TT was a bit heavier and closer to the actual color of the interior. I have no complaints on it. I wish the ACC carpet was closer to OEM color.

Just saw this thread.

I can't speak to how / why RockAuto sells at the price they do, so I won't get into that. Even though this is a hobby for me, it's still more work than you'd think, and it's just not worth the effort to do it for free.

I put several months into this project - including shipping actual vehicles to ACC, at my expense - to make sure the 6x community had access to carpet that's as close as humanly possible to OEM, and I'm pleased with the product. (I would say about 95% correct in fit, finish, texture, and color....at about 10% of OEM cost, IF OEM were still available. I can live with that.)

As for the carpet colors: I know they may initially appear "off" from OEM, but that's because virtually all OEM carpets have faded over the years. As @wngrog mentioned above, ACC wanted to use a stock yarn color for the grey, but after MUCH complaining from me, they agreed to work with their dye house supplier to produce what I consider to be an exact match to the unfaded OEM samples I provided. The resulting colors are darker, because they're the same color as the carpet that came in your truck....BEFORE it faded out.

Lastly, as with the very few who have had problems with the carpet I've sold them, I stand behind it 100% and immediately. Ask any of them.

Do you think you got a bad set?

I’m lost. It seems to me if Rock Auto is using ACC and DNP is using ACC then what explains how bad yours is compared to all the ones @dnp has sold to date?

I believe this would be an opportune time to thank @dnp for all the leg work done on this project as well as demonstrating the market need for 6x products. I doubt ACC is using any other than what David spec'ed out. They could be, but wouldn't make much business sense. I have been happy with mine and can absolutely vouch for @dnp 's standing behind his business venture. I had an issue with the mat set I ordered and was promptly sent a replacement at no cost to me.
