...Every bolt in the engine compartment was rusted from treated roads. Every weld on the frame was surface rusted but nothing really bad, I wish every cruiser was desert dry :)...

If you ever want to turn a bolt on this, walk away. Rust sucks, and turn every little "hey, just remove 3 bolts, swap a part, and put 3 bolts back in" job in to a nightmare of extracting, drilling, re-tapping waiting for replacement parts, etc. If you never plan on doing anything other than routine maintenance, ok. But I will never buy a eastern/midwest rig again.

...how can I fit two forward facing and one rear facing child seat in there and not kill my self strapping them in?

get a minivan... seriously. I couldn't imagine trying to strap in a young'un in a rear-facing seat in the middle while reaching over a forward facing seat on the sides. If any are old enough to buckle themselves, maybe put them in the middle 3rd row (which is WAY out of reach while in motion). Best case would be rear-facing seat outside, and oldest/most able kid in the middle.

I walked away from it for the simple reason of rust. Sad but true, poor cruiser is only a few years old and already sick :frown:

So getting three kids in the back is a bust  oh well.

Looking at a 2002 with 03 model 18's on it. White/tan two tone, all stock 96k miles, very clean southern truck. Big used car dealer won't budge off of $17,500. Most svc records but no 90k svc. What do you think?

Saw that one on EBAY but it seemed a little sketchy. It is at a used car lot in Marietta(Malone's Automotive).

I would really love to buy the one in the classifieds now that is at IPOR but the logistics of shipping it down here sight unseen turned out to be a big headache.

was gonna get a ppi done but seller emailed me and said gonna keep for awhile longer

There is a nice looking one owner 03 w/ 100K in ohio. They are asking 18,500

Is Ohio one of the rust states to stay away from?

Check earlier pages in this thread, Danny. That one has not had the 90k mile service, and has some pretty extensive undercarriage rust that would require new CV boots, shocks, etc ($2-3k) from pictures that I have seen. If they would come down to $15,500 or $16k, it wouldn't be a bad deal. Thus far, the best price I have seen them offer is $17,991 plus tax, title, and license.

Sorry about that one guys. I hadn't seen it before. No wonder it's at 18.5K.

I had the 1999 I was looking at locally at the dealership for an ispection. They said it had been serviced regularly in their shop till the 75K mark, which was the last time it was in. It had an oil change sticker in the window from jiffy lube 1,500 miles ago so he must have started to go there. They did an inspection and found only a burnt out D light in the dash. It of course needs the 90K service still. They quoted $1,600. Guy is out of town for two weeks so I've got some time to think on it and see if a better deal pops up.

I am sure it's a scam, if not I would buy it for that money if it was a framer.

Portland OR - 1998 Landcruiser

Hi All --

My fourth LC try now -- thanks to Craabs for the link -- flying out to Portland OR tomorrow 1/30 to take a look at this near-perfect-looking '98. Sounds like it was purchased by a serious enthusiast last year to build as a rig, he really wanted a '97 FJ80 instead. Wonder if he hangs out on this forum?

1998 TOYOTA LANDCRUISER 4WD $13900

Hopefully he'll be willing to negotiate a bit on the price, since Edmunds and KBB both put it at around $12,500. On the other hand, if it's truly immaculate, I'm willing to pay a bit for that.

So I'm either hitting the road in Portland tomorrow afternoon if I buy it, or seeking out the brewpubs to check out for my Sunday 7a flight back...

Just in case -- anyone want to recommend a brewpub in Portland?

Seen that one on, looks nice, I'm just not fond of green. :) As far as brewpubs, McMenamins Pubs has a bunch of unique pubs. I recommend the Kennedy School Pub, and Edgefield, in Troutdale, just a few miles from Portland. There are a ton of others too, I'm sure some others will chime in.

I sent him an email this morning, waiting for a scam-alam-a ding-dong reply anytime now. I assume it was a real ad at one time, that was harvested by a scammer.

About 3 weeks ago there was a legit LX470 that went for $7500, and sold overnight, just missed that one. :brickwall:
