CV Spline Play - How Much Is OK?

Check this video of the spline play in my 265k CV axles (I believe them to be original) with NEW OEM hub flanges. It's currently a tolerable level of 'clunk' but I'm about to do my front hubs so that would be the time to change CV axles if they are out of "spec".

Is this normal/acceptable? Do new axles & flanges have any play at all? Is there a specified acceptable tolerance from Toyota?
 
When I did mine, new hub flange and axle together..it was a very tight fit, no play in it.
 
yeah ideally you really want no play there. It's not going to explode with a bit of play in it, but it will wear down the splines more over time and get worse.
 
I had to tap my old drive flange onto a new Cardone HD axle with a hammer (just tapped, didn't pound). It was that tight.

I know the flange was original/worn, so the new CV axle must have had tight splines.
