Got a mig welder? Thats aluminum. If you use er70s-6 wire for mild steel on a nut that will fit in there somehow you can try doing that. The question is... what nut can you get in there haha

I might get some hate for this... but get some black FIPG and put it around the rubber "gasket" on that oilpan on the side where it mates to the block. Every single one of those ive ever installed has leaked until i started putting the FIPG on them. Run a very thin bead and put a good sized goop in the corners. They like to leak in the middle of the longer straight side on the passenger side. Since I started doing the FIPG, none have leaked and mine and the one other that i had to drop the pan to apply it.. havent leaked again either

Yup got a welder and suitable wire. I agree the hard part is finding a nut that fits and a socket that fits that counterbore.

I used some permatex black on the corners but nothing along the rest. I’ll keep that in mind thanks!

Milwaukee 3/8 on setting 2 is the torque spec for those intake bolts

Got the norovirus then the cold that was going around, fun way to spend a few weeks…

Word of wisdom, intake manifold bolt holes in your heads are thru holes directly above the lifters…. So I chased the hole that I snapped and realized this….

$250 later for new MLS gaskets and some ARP head bolts. but the lifter valley is clean of aluminum dust

Valve covers didn’t clean well at all in the parts washer. I’ll either get new ones or bead blast and Cerakote these

tomorrow is rest of hoses and exhaust manifolds etc. eta on advanced adapters is 11/20 then we can stab it home

FYI you can 1000% re use these head gaskets as long as they don’t get blown. Along with every gaskets and LS on the engine.

i had read the MLS gaskets were one time use so I figured I would redo them anyway, but yah every gasket I touched got replaced anyway.

Whats your current plan for your fue? returnless filter and 6an to the front?

I no longer use the Corvette filter/regulators after having to replace one five times on a 60 before we got a good one last year, and had another bad one out of the box on another 62 a few months ago. I’ve been using adjustable regulators and 3FE fuel filter in the stock location. Stock fuel lines up to the filter and AN from the filter to regulator, and then to rail.

My truck has the Corvette regulator currently but has been in there for +5 years now. So maybe they just went downhill with the QC at Wix

On Gen 3 stuff I like to just use the 98-02 regulator rails. They don’t fit over the Gen 4/TBSS intake though

I’ll probably get some flak for this but I use the $28 PQY regulators from Amazon on a bunch of projects now and never had an issue with one.

To echo Matt, MLS head gaskets are multi use unless they were blown out. Run em.

Finished dressing the engine except for plug wires, coils, etc. going to refinish some brackets

What are the chances this fits in the engine bay with the car accessory layout? a few ICT Billet brackets may be in order for the AC and alternator.

EDIT: with Matt's mounts, it actually looks like it fits as-is. Gonna be tight

Also picked up rebuild kits for the 80 rear and 60 front. These will also be set aside for the engine project to finish and to find Tundra brake swap parts. @cruiseroutfit

That looks pretty normal for a used auto.
