Engine arrived in good shape and is on the engine stand for cleanup and DOD delete preparation.

Not sure who covered this engine in sod before shipping it.....

It’s probably fine but I would want to figure out what that piece was

You’ll have the heads off to delete the DOD so you’ll see all the bores

Yah thought I did my due diligence finding a reputable shop. I’ll call them and see what they think
Yeah man it's a hard task been though 2 and both were shady as hell. Probably wondo anything for ya worth a shot tho take pictures of everything every step. Keep at man.

Im going to call it now it’s a cam bearing. I bet that it was running just fine and maybe made slightly less oil pressure when whatever it was in got wrecked

Good lord. What a bad break. At least you caught it while it’s still out and in your garage and not on the test drive! There’s no better time than now to rebuild it. Pulling the cam is actually not too bad with the wooden dowel method. Worth it to get a look see

It’s a DOD engine he’s pulling the cam anyways.
I bet the bottom end is completely fine. I would pull a rod cap or two just to peek but if it’s a cam bearing then the rest of the motor is probably completely fine

I'll second this.......... WITH a second guess of the chain dampener broke/separated. Looks about the right size. If so, there is more to be found or damaged on the dampener in place. Usually not catastrophic and upgrade it with the "EARLY" LS2 version.
