Ok class, today we build a crate...

Shot this with a stop motion app on the iphone - about 1300 still shots taken at 5 second intervals. I hope to capture a complete bed build this way next.

WOW....how much coffee did you drink ????...LOL

Even do GREAT work making crates

so is that owner going to finish the assembly him/herself? Or is that how you're going to ship out all of those beds?

He is going to assemble himself. With that sale I am sold out including the three extra I made.

All the others will be assembled

So after all that, was it worth it? It sure looked like a whole-lotta work.

I ask because I often quote a price for a job and vow never to do it again for the same amount of money.

No. Yes.

The price should be doubled. Two years ago I was going to adjust my pricing up by about 20% and never got around to it.

I enjoy the work but when your hobby becomes a "must do because I promised I would and I took their deposit" kinda thing it is a lot less enjoyable.

I don't regret it at all though. I'm just tired at the moment and need to recharge.

For those of you reading this who are still waiting for beds or other stuff don't worry. I'm just anxious to finish so I can kick back for a while once I'm all done. I've already started to turn down work so I will have a window of time to relax.

I'm typing this as I sit beside my mother in the Foothils Hospital ER waiting for her admittance to the cardio unit. Otherwise I would be in the garage grinding the hooks that go with those two beds in the crate. I mention it not for shock value but just to let my customers know that even though it may sometimes seem like not much is going on, it is only due to more pressing matters and I do work as much as I can.

I should delete this but I'm nothing if not open and honest with you guys. Sorry if this post is inappropriately worded but I'm hungry and tired so I'm gonna stop ty..p..i..n.......

Thanks Marc, the good news is I'm done most of the difficult stuff and the more enjoyable and rewarding assembly phase is whats left.

Kevin, hope your mom is ok,Been there many times in the last 2 years, I think you have accomplished something amazing that defies the long hours and getting what amounts to $2.00 an hour!! You have single handingly reproduced a rare fj45 bed to very high standards and given back to those who desperately need a bed to finish off there restorations. You should be super proud of this and I know the "community" is in awe!:beer:

He is going to assemble himself. With that sale I am sold out including the three extra I made.

All the others will be assembled

You didn't forget to keep one for yourself didja? ;p

Remember this is a hobby and family always comes first! I just wish i had the cash to buy one if i ever get a lwb 45.

Thanks Whitey

Subz - Oh, I have one for myself, don't worry. I know how hard they are to get ;)

I don't know why I worry so much about how long it has taken to do these beds. Not one of my customers has complained, though I'm sure many of them are anxious to receive the bed. A couple of them have even asked to be the last one, for build timing reasons I guess.

Anyway, I'm feeling better now after a big cup-a-joe. Now I'll be up all night and twice as tired tomorrow :bang:

Great stuff Kevin, hope all is well with your mom.

On another note I sold a BJ42 to a friend of yours, another super duper guy and I hope to see that truck restored to new one day..

Who knows maybe some of your parts will go into it..

Rob;)

Actually, he called me and said he woud sell it to me if I wanted it. He knows I am passively looking for a 42. He said he wasn't sure why he bought it and didn't have any concrete plans for it other than to keep it safe. I am kinda hoping for an 83-84 but they are hard to get in a good restotation quality. 81-82 are a bit more common.

All I can say is I am glad I got my foot in the door when I did; I am in no rush and look forward to the parts. Though not very vocal, I have been glued to every video and word! Plus it’s given me time to stock pile by nickels and dimes from my paper route, aluminum can recycling, and plasma donations!!! I am a Professional mountain guide and can certainly relate to burning out on things you love to do. Funny thing is, I can’t wait until the next big adventure! Keep up the great work Kevin you’re the Man!

Yes please take your time, I am one of those that would like some parts built in the future and don't want to see you burnt out. I am willing to wait as I won't get around to that project for a few years yet, but any time you need cash let me know and build away, stuff looks good.
Cheers,
Deny
