Dissent bumpers are here! Sent most parts off for gloss black powdercoating! The wings I wanted to color match. So the insides were painted gloss black, the outsides were done in Raptor Liner to match the truck.
I also am painting, powdercoating, & installing my new Land Cruiser Grille from @kelly saad. I had a couple of brackets welded onto the back of the grille shell, to install a pair of Whelen yellow flashers behind the grille. People tell me they like the yellow flashers I have installed in the rear when we are going through dusty trails. They say it's easy to see me up ahead. So I'm hoping the guy in front of me might like to be able to see me as well.
Thankfully I had mixed 2 gallons of paint when I painted the truck a year ago. So I had leftover and it was the exact same color. Sometimes custom colors when written down and mixed again can be off.
I had painted the emblems to match the old Hutchinson wheels. So instead of changing the color of the rear emblem I decided to do the TOYOTA letters the same color as that. Plus they will match the projectors in the headlights.
This install also included the new rigid flood lights mounted flush in the bumper, reinstalled the Warn Zeon Platinum 12-S, relocated the winch head back on top of the bumper, & factor 55 1" fairlead. I originally wanted to try and remote mount the head. But there was no room in the engine bay and in case of emergency there really wasn't an easy place to get to to turn the winch on.
I am in love with yellow zinc hardware. I think it looks killer next to my green. So every chance I get I've been slowly swapping out stock bolts or bolts to install parts with yellow zinc. When I got my front bumper it had just plain old grade 8 bolts. So I went and got all new yellow zinc hardware to install it.

I have the Dissent rear bumper sitting in the garage. Just waiting to get a full weekend without plans to do that!

Can you tell me which TOYOTA letters those are? I replaced the rear hatch on my '05 and filled in all the holes for the factory badges. So now I'm completely "debadged," which I like. But I've also thought about putting block letters across similar to the look you have on the front grill. I just need them in black to work on the white paint.

Pn#75311-90K00 or just Google “BJ70 OEM TOYOTA emblem”

You could buy the factory emblem or I can have some letters cut out of 12 gauge steel, looks exactly the same. Also, I could decrease the size so it doesn’t look huge on the tailgate. Just a thought.

Spent the weekend swapping bumpers. Didn't quite get finished before the hail and rain came in. Damn Vegas weather!

Started installing the dissent bumper. I discovered the box I had made to hold my air compressors & tank, where the spare tire was, is in the way of the new cross member. Well that sucks... so I pulled the box and I'll have another project, to figure out a new setup on that. The other problem I ran into is with the Doug Thorley exhaust. It seems the tip of the exhaust is on the cross member. I'll have to take that and get a new turn down tip welded onto it and give me some clearance.

Bumper is on. The tire carrier and Jerry can holder will have to get installed next weekend.

That's nuts. Snow in Vegas. Who would've thought.

Just saw pics of the red rock canyon covered in snow on some article I saw on Yahoo and couldn't believe it.

Sorry about the windshield. If there's anything we learned about windshield problems, it's that you should not delay it and take care of it ASAP. Our trusty old 2003 Sienna that was in the family for over 200k miles developed a tiny rust spot above the windshield a few years into owning it (crappy aftermarket glass install by previous owner), fast forward a few winters later (Chicago winters SUCK), that tiny rust bubble spread and turned into a huge hole that was leaking water into the cabin. It wasn't worth repairing because we waited too long and the damage was too severe.

The snow was actually pretty cool to see! The last time that happened was about 10 years ago. The picture is of the Luxor Casino I took last night after the Golden Knights game.

As for the windshield, I've been fighting it. I'm almost to be point of paying the dealership to replace it. But I know they will just sub it out... they are sending a "manager" to come take a look at the LC on Monday. Him and I are gonna have a very 1 sided conversation...

When you had the truck sprayed, how did the shop handle the window trim? Did they just mask everything off or was the glass removed? The last bodyshop my dad worked at did a lot of NFL players builds and they rhinolined a bunch of Jeeps. That stuff is super thick. I think those JKs are easier since the top is removable and they don't have to deal with complex windshield removal, etc. I am curious if your shop took the glass off and due to the thickness of the line-x coating, maybe the glass is not seated completely flush.

There was no shop that did the truck. I did. Knowing that the glass was a huge pain I didn't touch it! I just masked around the trim and sprayed it. I didn't want to deal with digging out old glue or old trim and buying new. I did remove the side trim and sprayed under those though. At that time there were screws instead of rivets. I never had a leak, until the windshield was replaced. So I don't believe the bedliner to be the issue.

While waiting to hear back from @Ayune about his Scan Gauge overhead console mount, I learned there was another style overhead console. I had the old version where you can insert your own garage door opener. I swapped it for the version with the homelink & 3 buttons on the bottom, almost a year ago. That version worked with my garage door at home, but not the gate at work. I don't want to lose my homelink when I go to mount my Scan Gauge II. I started searching for ideas and came across a version with the 3 buttons on the front edge and a sunglasses holder! So I bought it. Hopefully this version reads the gate frequency. Now I have all 3 versions that I'm aware of. Plus there's a spot for some LED map lights! I'll have to find some red leds to put in there. You all probably knew about it already, but I'm excited!

Got a few projects finished up this weekend.

TYT TH-9800 Ham Radio finished up and wired. Mounted the body under the passenger front seat.
Whelen PA system installed. Mounted that under the passenger front seat as well.
Whelen Ion yellow flashers installed in the front grille. Wired into the Spod.
ARB dual compressor mounted to the ARB drawers. No room under the hood to put them and this will keep it clean and out of the dust. Might add a fan to the front section of the drawers to blow into the cubby. Still gotta wire this up.

Very cool compressor setup! That may be the best use I've ever seen for that leftover side space in a drawer system.

I was accepted into FourWheeler Magazines Overland Adventure: 2019. It'll be a couple days of offroad traveling and camping all the way to Overland Expo. Here's the list of vehicles I'll be traveling with.

I'll need to finish getting the ARB Compressor wired up. Possibly button up a few other things I've been putting off. (Mount the fridge, wire up the PA Horn switch, make sure the rig is ready for the trip)

Just read this thread for the first time, thanks for taking the time to write it up.

Always excited to see a mudder in LV. Looks like you will be in an eclectic group of vehicles on the overland adventure. Looking forward to seeing pics of that.

Awesome build!!!
