Set out yesterday morning from Morro Bay and it was 55*
Just outside of Barstow, California it hit 118* the hottest temp’s I have ever seen with my tow rig.
The transmission temp’s got as high as 241* buy far the highest I have ever seen it and the motor hit 230* also the highest I’ve seen.
Online charts from Ford show that this is still OK and she kept pulling strong without missing a beat and I wasn’t about to turn the AC off in that kind of heat.
Very impressive that the truck could keep pulling at 75MPH up hill AC blasting in that kind of heat.
She earned her keep yesterday!!
Easy 5k in the bed and 10k in tow.

This is a great rig I’m still going through the whole build but definitely getting some ideas as I go. Keep it up the way you did your sliders is awesome.

Close wife usually rides in front with me
My Son and his wife will be flying into Durangoand and driving over to Ouray to meet us for a few days trail riding so rear seats will be needed. I'm super excited about this.
Were we camp in Ouray for SAS is at 8000 feet of elevation and some of the mountain passes we cross are over 12000 feet the 1FZ struggles at these elevation on 39s with just to people, this year I will have 4. when I mentioned this to Kenn he offered up his 37s and I jumped on it !! THANKS Kenn !!

Should have dropped to 35's.....then your rig could jump from rock to rock But be careful and don't spill your beer!

80's are great for wheeling with 4 people!

My 39 are 38.5 Kenn’s 37s are 35.5 so pretty close

And yes, you can feel the difference.
Definitely hurts the top end but I won’t need that.

Yes, it’s always the first week of August.
It’s only advertised on mud and sells out really quick.
You need to watch the previous year’s SAS thread for clues on when registration will be opening.
As far as trails go there more like county service, roads, or fire roads.
It more scenic than technical and I take a lot of ribbing showing up in my fully built rock crawler
They were also very defensive when I mentioned that the trails could be made in your mothers Subaru.
But that’s ok I wouldn’t be here for my third time if it wasn’t a great event !!
Great people, scenery and trails !!

While the trails are "easy" they will test your nerves. Some of those passes are super sketch... Not being a fan of heights, very limiting for me personally. If you dont mind heights.... some pretty amazing stuff. And the surrounding area just cant be beat.. And a great crew.. Million dollar highway alone is worth the trip.

Like you said, with 4 people and altitude, you'll need that difference. One of the reasons I went with 5.29's for towing. About mid August I'll be doing the WYBDR with my ROF group and trailer in tow. There's sections around 10 & 11K along that route. Hope you have a great time! I'm with @SHREG when it comes to heights, though. Great scenery, but I'd be singing the Kenny Rogers classic "You picked a fine time to leave me Loose Wheel (Lucille)" on the exposed sections.....
