Bad batch makes sense, mine are a year older with many trail rides on them.
Yours are new and failed first time out= bad batch ?
I hope we don't see more of this !!!

How are you and @spyduh lubing your rear wheel bearings? A couple of years ago when I was rebuilding my axles, I got into a discussion with Kevin Patterson about leaving the inner axle seal out and instead of packing the wheel bearings, he suggested that the diff gear lube would lube the bearings. Gear lube is better, of course. But I was wondering if it was a bad batch that spyduh experienced, maybe heat is involved. They would keep cool better if the gear lube is consistantly bathing the bearings, but if they're being "starved" occasionally due to the terrain, maybe packing the bearings and having the inner seal, as designed by mr. T is better. Most freight truck (semi sized) axles use the gear lube bath approach, but they don't sidehill or run the rubicon...lol That was my argument with Tools, but he wasn't buying it. Good discussion, though

I use OEM seal and moly grease and pack the bearings with a pump.

Don't think it was heat cause. The whole day was sloooooow going cause of other people in front of us breaking down. I think we were stopping every 20mins. LOL.

A heavy duty commercial vehicle is usually hauling max GCVW they need all the lubrication and cooling effect they can get. An 80 on the trail and a few HWY miles I'm not sure it would make any difference. @spyduh 's axles and flanges did not fail because of heat that failure is from torque load and yet to be seen possibly factory defect. Oil bath wheel bearings would be a sweet mod for an 80 that see a lot of HWY miles.

Went on a wheeling /camping trip with friends. The weather was cold, but clear skies the first two days it snowed on us on the way out.
A good time was had my all !!
The fresh snow was beautiful and made for really interesting camping.

There are some difficult sections of the trail that are not for the timid or those afraid of body damage, it can be conquered with out damage with good driving skills!!

Sassy was great on the trail. She is still a puppy so she gets a little nervous on the technical parts of the trail.
Just putting my hand on her head and petting her calmed her down.
If you have never had a Queensland healer I can tell you that they great dogs and very Loyal!!
By the way I had a lot of cleaning and unloading to do this morning

Awesome...I look forward to mine... hopefully ring in a new puppy by New Years. I never had a Queensland Heeler, so this will be my first and not last.

Man, this is where I need to be right now. Hawaii is hot and humid and I miss the snow! Blue heelers are awesome dogs. Incredibly smart and loyal like you said. We had one for many years.
