@spyduh lubing your rear wheel bearings? A couple of years ago when I was rebuilding my axles, I got into a discussion with Kevin Patterson about leaving the inner axle seal out and instead of packing the wheel bearings, he suggested that the diff gear lube would lube the bearings. Gear lube is better, of course. But I was wondering if it was a bad batch that spyduh experienced, maybe heat is involved. They would keep cool better if the gear lube is consistantly bathing the bearings, but if they're being "starved" occasionally due to the terrain, maybe packing the bearings and having the inner seal, as designed by mr. T is better. Most freight truck (semi sized) axles use the gear lube bath approach, but they don't sidehill or run the rubicon...lol That was my argument with Tools, but he wasn't buying it.
