A few weeks ago I ordered a replacement tire carrier for my FJ40. The 235/85-16 was so much heavier than the 700-15 I was tearing the body off the truck and I could not stop the rattling

After realizing that the 4 bolt receiver hitch was the same on the FJ40 as it was on my Pig.

I pulled some measurements and realized that the second mount designed to attach to the 40 frame lined up perfectly between the center crossmember and the frame horn.

I then measured the thickness of the OEM FJ55 bumper and it is only 1/32” less than the 40 frame.

I emailed @lcwizard , aka Dave Gore, owner and designer of the awesome 4+ Products and asked him if he had ever tried it. He said no, therefore I get to be the guinea pig.

I bolted up the center and marked my bumper.

Here is a link to his stuff. The tire carrier shipped
To me in 2 boxes via FedEx ground for about $90

It’s a great option for a Pig. Now someone needs to buy one with the cooler rack and post the pics.....

Why did you choose passenger-side over driver-side for the pig?

Any issues with the tailgate opening? Pivot Looks plenty far over, but that thing is thick. Looks like it's probably fine, but just curious.

I dig it. Been thinking about how to get a spare in/on the pig. This looks like it would fit the bill nicely.

Follow-up: is the PS tail light completely covered as it appears? Wonder if he would ship one with the tire mount not attached so it could be moved closer to the center to clear the tail light? Also, are you going to relocate the license plate?

This is well done. I may need to look in to doing this.

The tail light can be dealt with by ordering it with the spare arm moved more to center. I’ll take some measurements. On mine I will run it like this until someone says something which likely will be never.

A small remote LED would fix that.

Tailgate opens fine.

Cool. I didn't realize you could order one "custom".

And yeah likely would never be an issue, but my luck, I'd be that guy having to take the tire off so the trooper wouldn't write me a ticket...

I’m not going to speak for @lcwizard amd say custom can me made.

I’m sure he has a jig for this, but......for a few extra bux I bet he would do whatever you want.

I’ll measure it today to see what would clear the light

You know. I did not drop the tailgate the other day because I was looking at the pivot and the height of the lower bar and it was clear.

Because you asked I went home and dropped the tailgate to find that the passenger side Licence plate light hit the crossbar.

It was an easy fix for me because my tailgate has two lights. I removed the one that hit the bar and I’m good.

That said, your 69 has the long lower light under the Licence plate. That should not pose an issue for you.

I’m glad you pointed it out. That’s something I had not tested.

Also if you want the tail light visible completely the whole tire arm would have to be moved to center 6” which I’m sure is doable.

JimC dove into my dissy today and the advance was frozen. When he got it free the diaphragm crumbled.

Parts are ordered so the carb and dissy install will be another week.

I went ahead and installed the manifolds with new Remflex exhaust gasket and a Cruiser Outfitters manifold block off plate.

Everything bolted up clean and nice.

Side note.... since it will be another week I aired the tires back up and the tire carrier did the trick leveling out the truck and losing the lean.

I might have to get me one of those.
Though I'm not sure my bumper is straight enough for it to fit.
