Big Black 2F Build

It also turns in real bearings instead of just bronze bushings.

Those two things are fine and dandy, but aren't making me want to run out and buy a big cap dizzy. Will this motor make more power and/or get better gas mileage because of it? Or are 2f's just kind of stuck at 135 hp and 12 mpg? I know the Ford 300 can be made more efficient, can the 2f?

I'm in the same boat. I had to rebuild the front axle and steering components because I could finally go fast.

73 original f155 motor your carb and dizzy and it livened right up. 75 mph is a comfortable cruising speed.

Hills are a different story

just curious, but the thread lists "Big Black" build. What does the black refer to?

No. As long as you get a spark on time you get the same power and gas mileage. "Performance" ignitions are one of the biggest cons in the aftermarket industry.

The reality is that if you have a performance engine that revs over 7,500 RPM, you may benefit from an ignition that can operate reliably under these circumstances. Putting a performance ignition on a normally aspirated engine that rarely sees over 6,000 RPM does nothing for performance. All it does is empty your wallet faster.

?
