Hola Comrades!

As per title, I have a project coming up, and I'd like to use a later style big cap distributor on a 2F engine that does not have a side door recess.
The Dizzy I'd like to use is the 3FE one, as I'm doing away with the vacuum advance anyway.
Will the bigger distributor fit in the 2F engine without the later side panels?

Cheers!

You need to find a dented side cover and swap the old one out, make sure to replace the cork gasket. I had my big cap rebuilt and re-curved before installing it, that was nearly 10 years ago and it’s been great. FYI mine was from an FJ60 so a late model 2F, I’m not sure about the 3FE dizzy but since it’s an F block I’m guessing it would be a go. Someone else may chime in.

or are you using a 3F distributor?

Do i need the panel with the later recess, or is it possible to squeeze a big cap dizzy in against the older style engine panel?
It will not fit with out modifying the side cover or getting a later model "dented" side cover.
There are some threads on here of guys using a carved out block of wood and hammer to make their own "dent".
I never tried it, and ended up getting one from the Mud Classifieds.

Just wondering why are you wanting to get away from the vacuum advance?
