Was that a CSF? I didn't know they made plastic/metal style radiators for the 100. Not that I want a plastic rad but we've been discussing the all-aluminum rads from CSF or Mishimoto as possible alternatives to OEM.
@Craptaztic My experience has been with the all aluminum CSF 7207 only. It's been great.

I use an OEM cap with my aluminum Mishimoto with no problems at all.

Yup! I pulled the trigger on the Aluminum CSF since my mechanic noted mine was cracked while doing the pump/timing-belt service. Getting it sent directly to Gabe at TheAutoBar AZ from summit. I love how fast everyone is here to answer questions: helped me find a better-than-oem solution when I got a last minute call. He wanted to use a Koyo or Denso since the dealer quoted him 700 for OEM. (Yes, I could find it for ~400 on the web but that's the same price for all-aluminum so why not).

Is there any change to the coolant type that needs to be considered?

Awesome. I'm sure it will serve you well. No change to the coolant type.

BUT the aluminum CSF for the 100 takes an OEM cap per @Buddysuede who is currently runs one that way. The Mishimoto takes the subaru caps.
Yes it is CSF, See link I provided. But I was mistaken on which had subaru cap. It is the Mishimoto.

We have tired OEM too, just for fitment. When I called Mishimoto. They recommends only their cap.

If you measure the depth of goose neck of OEM T-rad and that of Mishimoto. You'll find a difference. This changes contact pressure on caps inner seal and spring. Which may change pressure within the cooling system.

Again, a rabbit hole.

Ahhh, interesting info as always 2001LC. For reference, I run around 185-192F.

Denso 221-3152 Radiator 229.00 on Amazon now. Is this OEM?

Nope, T-Rad like 2001LC mentions above.

Best bet is to go to Partsouq, enter your VIN, and navigate around the parts diagrams to find your part number you can then search for.

These Guys are having a 25% off and free shipping sale right now so good timing.

Will try that...Thanks!

I get 184f to 187F touching 190F and backing down to 187f in moments'. At 100F OAT full sun in July at 3PM stop and go city. Stopped at light, with both AC running full blast.

FWIW:
Best deal on OEM this week. 25% their listed wholesale price and free shipping from best packer in the world.

@TLCPNW - That's a great deal. Ordered rad and water pump for 300 bucks incl shipping! Thanks for the heads-up!

Holy smokes that's cheap. I just checked for my radiator (16400-50360) and it's $284ish by itself. Are you sure you ordered the correct radiator for your year? Just curious, why the water pump? I'd pick up a new thermostat while you're at it (is that what you're referring to?).

The website said it fit my 2003.....we will see..
Water pump is also for the timing belt change out.....

1998-2007 100 series, all use the same radiator and water pump. We do have 2 part numbers for Radiators & thermostats. Choose the cheaper, as they're all the same fit and function.

I always replace both upper & lower hoses, thermostat & gasket, cap (comes with rad), drain and blow out block and heater cores, then fill with only Toyota coolant. 98-03 toy LL (red) & distilled water. 04-up Toy SLL (pink).

Burping air from system over next few warm-up and cool down cycles is supper important.

I recently replaced the radiator, hoses, and thermostat with all OEM. -Jiggle valve at 12 oclock. This parts lookup at Ourisman shows models 1998-2007.

My new average temperature is 190. With the old thermostat it was 184 after I replaced the thermostat and hoses a few years ago. I wonder if the part has been consolidated to a single part for all years?

I recently spent a few days wheeling in the San Juan Mountains. I certainly didn't have any cooling problems in the mountains.

I'm tempted to revert back to the old thermostat. Its just the hassle and time to switch back.

There's still two P/N for the 100 series radiator and thermostat.

Keep in mind. A weak thermostat (opening to soon or much) may result in running cooler. The opposite is true of one open late or to little.

well dang! It looks like I missed the 25% off at Decatur.
$284 is a deal...are there any other deals for that part at that price?

I hope they run another deal on Thanksgiving. Thanks for sharing this.

No problem. Decatur packs well but still had some minor fin damage (not bad enough to affect performance though). Damage is due to how toyota packages them from the factory and is fairly commonplace from what I've seen.
