Make 12 V2: Scangauge II Mount for Mini-Homelink Overhead Console

Overview of three versions

M12V2.2 Introduction

M12V2 may have limited view angle. This is designed to have a better view angle.

M12V2.3 Design and Fabrication

Original plan was to attach the mount to the overhead panel through snap fit. But I don't think it is secure upon inspecting the prototypes. I added a "wishbone" bracket to mate with the overhead console utilizing three existing holes. The wishbone enhances the security of the snap fitting. No rattle at all.

If anyone needs a ScanGauge for one of these awesome mounts, AutoZone has them for $135 plus a 20% coupon - brings it to $107 with free shipping. Not bad.

@BenCC I’ll be hitting you up for one of these soon. Will likely have a request for a bit of custom.

Still need to paint but this a revision Ben made based on my feedback it has a 35 degree angle and is pushed further back to clear the front ridge. It gives better visibility for taller or upright seating positions.

I tried to take a photo from my line of sight to give best representation. This is much better than before because I was losing about 25% of the top screen. If you are concerned about losing sight of the top left button then don't get one with aux button. I won't changethe buttons so the benefit of the aux and slight loss of visibility works for me

I am glad the revision works. I revised all the designs to this configuration (pushes back, and tilted to 35 deg).

Brilliant work Ben-

Someday I'd like to see some sort of useful cover to replace the drop down DVD screen mounted above the second row seats.

Do I get a coupon for owning a defective unit?

I kid, I kid

Do you also have the limited view angle? If so, I can print a revised version for you and send it to you for free.

And I want to make an announcement here:

Anyone that has purchased a Scanguage mount, including Make 1, Make 5, and Make 11, and has limited view angle such as lose the top 25% screen, message me. I will print a revised version for free. Shipping is also on me.

Is this a good price these days? I could have sworn I've seen them for as cheap as 85 bucks before. Anyone know?
