I will complete Otter’s mount first. Then I need to work on a Scangauge on Lexus. I will let you know when I am about done on that. Should be in a couple of weeks. Thanks!
Just let me know if you would like to use it. I am enjoying the thread so far.

This stuff is cool. I have the Yaesu FT-8900R, it would be nice if it supported several types of units.
Adding in some red map light would finish that off nicely.
I can send you my 8900 face place if you are motivated.

I'm also interested in this (although for the FT-8800 which should be the same as the FT-8900), one possible complication might be leaving room for the microphone jack on the right side of the face of the FT-8x00/FT-7x00. I'm half tempted to switch over to the Kenwood unit just for this mount.

No need to switch lol. I will make one that can mount FT-8x00.

@Otter

This is the second prototype. See update in Make 9.

This mounts the unit securely. Let me know your comments.
Damnit... Now I want this for my Kenwood AND the 6 switch mount I ordered :bounce:

If you could squeeze in switch blanks on either side of the Kenwood head opening I would buy it yesterday :) Squeeze in one switch blank and I would probably still buy it.

@Otter

It is done. Printed in grey ABS to match your interior.

I will try. Not much space. I want the part to have some structural rigidity. But will try.
I will move the head unit to the right and try to add one rocker switch space on the left.

Sorry I do not have a more exact means of measuring.

It does appear it would be possible to cut some of the existing console liner away to create a larger opening.
It is about 7.5" deep to the highest part of the metal.

The issue here for me with going with a straight deep pocket is getting my hand in there and around something. Not impossible, but cumbersome.

Still, that being useable space is better than nothing.

That deep space is perfect for mounting a handgun holster.

The 120V AC socket came in today. I will have a version of Make 7 to mount it.

The Toyota part number for it is 85530-35050-C0.

Made the CAD to accommodate this outlet. Printing the first prototype now.

Would it be possible to print an entirely new trim piece to replace the OE ashtray/cig lighter/120v outlet panel?

I’d like to mount a scanguage down there by where the ashtray is currently located and use your 6 switch panel in the overhead console.

Seems like there is some opportunity to reorganize the existing outlets which would create additional room for more switches/outlets/etc.

Working on it. It is a difficult project. Many curved contours. I will post once I have something.

Crusier garage just came out with something similar. There's a thread floating around somewhere.

Interested in the 110v plug version of make 7 and if you come up with something for a gub in the console.

This is an excellent thread. @BenCC I'm sure you're quickly becoming one of the more popular members here.
