Made some more progress on the methanol injection tonight. I mounted the nozzle, and got the tank/pump/base installed. I powder coated the tank and base in semi gloss black, then re mounted the injection pump, washer pump, and float level sender. I'm using a over center strap to hold the tank to the base so I can remove everything pretty quickly to work on headlights and such. I pretty much have wiring to do and then test run it

I also took advantage of having the air cleaner and intercooler off to make a heat shield on the header. I used ceramic Matt fabric that I found at McMaster Carr to basically make a blanket over the header. It took tons of fitting and struggling to get it in there so I think it's going to stay. Once the air cleaner and cooler are on, you can hardly see it. I have a bunch more on the roll so I can make another few if this one gets crappy

AND I got my stop tech slotted rotors and EBC pads today, more projects. Not to mention I hope I see my new driveshaft so I can pop that in. I'm going wheeling/camping in a week so no pressure!

Gotta catch my thread up, been too long. While doing the front brakes, I discovered a delaminated bearing race, so I ordered up a set of koyo bearings. I also splurged on a bearing packer, always wanted ine. Works nice

Put in canvas seat covers from Land Cruiser Heaven, much nicer than my old seats. I got new leather too but that will wait for the complete redo.

Bought a couple of VP racing fuel jugs, no stupid safety nozzles and they fit my rear rack perfect

Got a personalized plate (which I never thought I'd do), surprised FZJ 80 was available. I also ordered a metal frame to protect it that was chrome plated and it looked super cheesy so i powder coated it with a home made black chrome/copper transparent that matches the Collectors Edition emblem colors pretty well. We'll see how it looks tonight.

Finally made headway on the auxiliary gas tank today. I got a tank from a 4 door Chevy Tracker that holds 16 gallons (for $20!) that looks like it would work well. It's about 12 inches tall so it doesn't hang down too bad. My biggest problem is my exhaust system in the way. I had a custom 3" system fabbed and it had issues with clearance and was really loud. The shop's solution was to add a resonator going across the spare tire area and dumping the exhaust out the driver's side; and I kind of hated it. With the aux tank, it had to go. Here's how the exhaust was routed, and my Tracker tank

I've been dreading doing this, but it wasn't too bad. I just bought a piece of 3" pipe on ebay that had a 180° bend, a 45°, and some staight-just cut what you need. I hacked off the old part and started fitting. I also bought a stainless 10" resonator to use as a tip. Lots of space with the exhaust and tire hanger gone, not so good when i put the tank up there. More cutting the old exhaust back

I still have to do proper hangers but the yank fits up there very well, it sits right in the area the oem sub tank goes. Its up there with a ratchet strap right now, i still have to fab strap or some kind of mount. I think clearance will be good.

Pardon the messyness. Before the tank goes in, the whole area will get aclean up/paint job, and the tank powder coated. Also a trailer wiring cleanup

I bought a dual filler from @Akella and I bought a Holley blue pump on ebay for transfer duties (idea from @LandCruiserPhil )

Good choice going new on the neck.
Used over a dozen of these pump in some of the worst conditions and never a failure. Mine runs dry for hours sometimes:eek:

I definitely considered making one, and new kind of kills the budget build, but the system as a whole is a great addition to the truck so i figured what the hell.
