New photos

Well, finally got the truck finished on the outside. Bumpers repaired, painted and installed, new OEM steel wheels and hubcaps, and a set of new 33x10.50 all terrains, Love the way it looks, and it runs great. Put almost 200 miles on it this week.Still need to work on the rear window so it works from the dash switch.

Not sure if I want to mount the factory PTO winch I have on the front of this piggy- looks pretty good the way it is. I'm not sure I'll be able to fit the PTO driveshaft in with the width of the V8 engine. We'll see, for now enjoy the photos! Gary

Gary,

It's truly beautiful! The paint job really makes it pop.

If you want to look at my build, you'll see how I ran the driveshaft for the PTO winch. It fits with the right pillow blocks.

That's awesome. I was planning on that same color scheme (slightly different orange) and those same tags if I end up getting the pig I've been chasing.

Parking brake

Well I crawled underenath the piggy yesterday to see why the parking brake didn't hold.........easy to see why. The cable for the brake was cut off right at the brake assembly. A new cable had been installed but only connected at the firewall- because it's too short. My truck is a 73 that had a four speed swapped in and I need a longer cable. Remembered that I had this problem when I installed the doubler in my original orange and white truck- dug up that thread and found what I hope to be the part number for a long enough (and correct configuration) cable. ordered it yesterday at the parts store and hope I get what I need! Stay tuned
Otherwise the piggy is running well. Good on the road, starts great all the time and has more power than any 40 or 55 I've ever owned. Gary S

TJ and Gary...I had the same problem after installing the overdrive. There's a longer cable that made up the difference. It's from a 9/73-'75 (FJ40 I believe) and adds about 10-12 inches. Part No. was 46410-60050. Just had to cut off a mounting bracket for the 40, which was simple. Cost was about $70 locally.
Had to do the speedo cable at the same time. Can't remember if that was because it was too short or for other reasons. Used part No. 83710-69085. Might have been this one that had the bracket I had to cut off.

Memory is the second thing to go with age.

What's the first? Or can't you remember? Ha!

Beautiful truck, even with the paint that makes it look like an Arctic rescue vehicle:p
Which is actually kind of neat.

E brake cable

Well, got the e brake working. Bought a Dorman cable from Advance Auto, part number C93804 for $24.47. Had to slightly massage it to get it to fit- the threaded end that goes through the firewall bracket was slightly too big in diameter. I used a flat file to get it to fit. Plenty long enough. Added some clamps underneath to keep it off the exhaust pipe. Works great! While in there I replaced the transfer case output seal- was the only leaking spot on the entire truck! Gary S

Johnny- thinking about driving it to the FG. We'll see if I get the rear window finished (most likely) and the power steering changed (most likely). It would be a good vehicle to toss a sleeping bag in the back and stay out of the New Hampshire rain! gary

Gary, if you do. You better stop by here.:)

Thanks Bob.
