I'm wondering if 45 rear shackles are the same as a 40. Mine are not original as are the springs.

I bought an original set of 45 rear springs, but no shackles with them. I'm ownering if I can just use the rear shackles off of a 40.

Now, I know that there are multiple aftermarket shackles out there and I could even make my own, BUT, I want to restore this truck so I want what was original to it.

My note says this for FJ40s:

Front 15mm ID (Pre 80')
Front 18mm ID (Post 80')
Rear 15mm ID (Pre 80')
Rear 18mm ID (Post 80')

For FJ45s, however, rear is 18mm ID for all years, but narrower than the 2.5" width (FJ60s.)

The rear springs are also longer then 40's and therefore the shackles are longer. I believe it's ~1". I don't know what factory was, maybe 3" in the front and 4" in the rear is my guess.

45 trucks used an 18mm pin on the rear . The fronts were the same as 40's. 18mm pin shackles are the same as you'll find on FJ60's and '80 and later FJ40's. The only other difference is the FJ 60 shackles were
a little wider so if you use 60 shackles you'll need the wide shouldered bushing. Man-a-fre stocked that item
but unfortunately they've closed their doors. Specter may carry the bushing. The bushing was designed to use with aftermarket springs (2.5" width ) in an FJ60 and late 40 hanger which used a wider (~2 3/4" ) spring. Early 40 and 45 springs were narrower than the later stuff

Exactly!

If you buy from OME suspension you can order the correct shackles and bushings without any problems - if you look in the OME catalog you will find the correct item numbers and have it the right way from the beginning. Not every part supplier knows this - they all think its the same as a FJ40.
