And I will be heading thru there in a week. Oh so tempting!!:)

My old 205 is available. I sold it for $200 without pipe jaws and ready for paint.

Some good deals listed locally last weekend. All looked to be in very good condition.
4 inch Wilton bullet listed for $140. Guy realized it was underpriced and emailed me to ask what it was worth. He ended up offering to me for $180 and I passed.
4 inch Morgan listed for $20.
6 inch that looked like a Columbian but couldn't tell for sure from the pictures listed for $70.

Here's a picture of the 6 inch one.

Snagged this locally this last week. To good a price to pass up near me. This with Athol 41/2 has me stocked up. Chicom vices are out of the barn. These will be my work horses.

Well, nothing spectacular, but found a new home for the Desmond - replacing the 3-1/2” Fuller on my toolbox at work. Had to build a 1” spacer for the Desmond so the handle would clear the top drawer.
The Fuller was made in Japan, and has served me pretty well for almost 20 years, but hey, nothing wrong with an upgrade.

Such a difference! That spacer is great. Have the same issue with my Wilton. I'd need like a 6" one though. Looks fantastic!

Thanks @FARMAN33

Looking to make a couple handles here in the near future. I’ve found sources for materials through McMaster, and have seen them made up with the use of machine work and without machine work. Do you have a preference? Sorry if this has already been gone over.

@bhsdriller Yeah. The vise "market" is a weird one right now as they are just becoming a "thing". This means there are crazy good deals out there and sometimes sellers get their phones blown up when they list something cheap. THEN they do some research and find out where the pricing should be (or often, OVERCORRECT). I try to be first when possible and even then try not to spook them with crazy specific questions.

@RUSH55 I've had handles made before for vises that I couldn't straighten. I have no machining tools. I like the customization that machining provides.

I have a couple of questions;
first is regarding the Wilton bullets. I was scanning ebay and aside from a very wide range of shipping quotes, I did see a couple of restoration candidates. Are the 5 and six digit bullets (8300, etc) any less desireable than the 3 digit ones? Secondary to that, I saw one that had 9300 on the main, and 8300 on the dynamic and was listed as 8300n is anything amiss there?
Swivel lock levers for my columbian 605-m2; Any reason some Wilton parts would not work?

Here's an "exploded" view of my Wilton "triple duty utility" with 5" jaws. I will likely paint it red as it came that way when new.

@MrMikeyG The bullets are usually classified as a hundred multiple of jaw width. Starting with the 5"(500) 6"(600) 8"(800) with "N" being stationary and "S" denoting swivel base. In that regard your assumption is correct as the 3 digit bullets are larger and thus more expensive. On the smaller end, 8200 is the model for the "baby" 2" bullet and I have seen all manner of numbers for 3" and 4" ones. the mismatched numbers on static and dynamic jaws are nothing to note really. They were internal identifiers and not really intended to be THE indentifier.

I've seen several interchanging swivel locks as they run fairly standard for size. Worth a try (might work / might not) Would love to see the 605!

Been doing a little work on the 974.

First thing that needed taken care of was the bent keeper pin for the main nut. Couldn’t figure what the original diameter was supposed to be, so I drilled it out a couple sizes smaller than 5/16 and then made a pin out of a 5/16” bolt shank. For whatever reason, the hole for the pin is not centered.
I shimmed the main nut with some feeler-gauge stock I had in my toolbox for the last couple of decades. After that the screw action was nice and smooth.
Next was to see if I could hardware store my way to a fix for the handle brake or whatever you’d prefer to call it, in the nose of the yoke. A portion of the spring was all that was left, and the thread size of the hole was 5/16” - 18. I picked up a rod of 1/4” brass and a 1/4” OD spring, and an Allen 5/16” set screw, 1/4” in length. Made a “button” out of the brass rod about 1/8” long, cut the spring to about 3/8”. Inserted everything and works great.
