Any help or ideas for my 1964 FJ45LV build???

Thank you all very much for the input! I see the pros and cons of all the different ideas. I definitely agree that once the truck is modified at all that it loses the originality of it. So if it's going to be modified it might as well be exactly what I want!

I hadn't put much thought into a diesel, however, if I did go diesel I could get rid of my POS Duramax!!! Nothing against GM, just haven't had much luck with mine! So I wouldn't be too sad to replace it with a Diesel FJ45LV!! That would be cool! On that subject... would a Cummins 4BT or 6BT work? I want to do this with as little fabrication as possible. If I can get the power and toque from something that doesn't have serious(meaning $$$) I will go that route!

Does anyone want to come and do the work in my shop! Maybe a "vacation" for someone??? ;-)

If that LV is as clean as it looks I'd consider leaving it stock (maybe selling it to someone that is looking for a stock project).... maybe one of your other LVs is non-stock already and wouldn't suffer from more non-stockness?

I am bouncing around ideas for a repower of my 66 FJ45LV.... trying like hell to find a good, all Toyota path... Mine is already not stock, with a Chevy straight 6 in in now...

4&6 bt's are big, heavy and tall. You are looking at quite a few modifications once you enter this world.
There are several good benifits to them and I know several other diesel swaps are popular here. I myself leave the diesel in the tow rig.

EDIT***Looks like "gumby" beat me to it for the most part

I think I'm headed down the LS path. I'm going to keep the exterior all original with a small lift and modernize the interior for superior comfort! My 7 year old princess hasn't figured out that this is wayyyyyyy cooler than a "Tahoe" or "Yukon"! So I need to make t comfy for the kiddos!

On another note... what about a/c and heating? Where and what do I go with here?

That really depends on what you do with the interior. The simplest setup would be to use a stock heater and add a Vintage Air kit. You may have to get creative with it because these things didn't come with all the heating options that other vehicles of its day came with.

There are some photos for sale on eBay of an LV that somebody did a really cool job with.

Ahh yes, here it is:

You can find more photos of the truck if you search their other items for sale. Anyone know who built it? Looks to be a body swap onto a modern chassis. Very, very cool.

Lots and lots of options for ac and heat. On my list is hurricane air. Want to figure out the dash vent situation before tho. That seems to be a harder decision than which ac system. Look at some threads. Some use existing blower location. Some don't. Some use a bit of real estate while others are more compact. Electronic servos for switching or pull cables that would appear more stockish.
