Any current options for steering stabilizer / damper / dampener?

Yeah, I've read through all the posts. Yeah I've searched the inter-web.

I'm not impressed with the Old Man Emu unit.

I'm less impressed with the OEM unit.

I'm not a fan of Rancho, Sky-Jacker, etc

Given how many folks are now running premium shocks like Bilsteins, Fox, Kings, and now Slee, it seems someone has got to offer a relatively high quality, maybe rebuildable, maybe custom valveable, unit that is close to plug-and-play.

On a side-note, if you are running hydro-assist does that eliminate the steering stabilizer?

Thanks in advance

Valving needs to simply be 50/50, otherwise it will be biased to steering one direction over the other.

that's helpful.

maybe you might want to have it be valved firmer or softer - like custom for the way your steering is set up, the size tires you run, blah, blah, blah.

Out of curiosity, what don't you like about the OME unit? Other than the price, I think the OEM works just fine in stock form. I have an OME on my '94 with 3" lift and 315's, the :princess: has the OEM on her '93 with no lift and 33's. I've installed plenty of OME's, a few Monroe's/NAPA/Rancho on both stock and lifted trucks and no one has yet to complain. Of course, YMMV.

Didn't I see someone testing out a Fox unit in the Expo site?

I installed a Tough Dog 9 stage adjustable unit a few months back, i've owned this vehicle since new and i've had a few different types over the years including a return to centre type. This one gives you the ability to set it to your preference and so far i can't fault it.

I have had the OME unit on for several years now without fail. It is was an improvement over stock and have no reservations about using it again.

I am curious as others have said why you are un-impressed with the OME unit?

I would also like to learn what the OP thinks is wrong with the OME. I have a quick question for those who already have an OME installed when I was installing mine I noticed that the tapered ends don't sit fully flush in the steering stabilizer bracket or the other end of the steering bar. There's about an eighth inch space still there on mine is that normal?

I had a prototype Fox unit on for a while, but as one of the previous posters alluded to, the valving was not 50/50 and caused a pull in the steering. I went back to the OME and haven't had any further issues, although it's certainly not as pretty:

OME x maybe 150,000 miles, no problems. Had a little extra space (not flush) when mounting mine IIRC

I change my OME for another OME last September amd it only last me 8 months.

It leaked all the oil. what happened????

Warranty?

The ome doesn't have the bling factor that the kids want (like the fox) it screams ol school (not that there is anything wrong with it) They would match the kc smiley face covers....lol

I'd like to know what happened to the Fox prototype project.

But honestly I don't have any complaints on my Iron Man unit that I got with the rest of the suspension system. I don't feel like I'm pushing the limits of the system that often though to need a better unit.

Iron Man unit works for my truck and another one... No problems here although the white paint seems to get dirty rather quickly. (I have the full Ironman Suspension to match)

New?

Do you have a part number or link for the Doetsch stabilizer?

I really like my Doetsch shocks a lot but they didn't offer a stabilizer and I can not find one on there website.

Thanks.

I'd like to know what happened to the Fox prototype project.

The prototype project didn't pan out. Fox currently doesn't have anything that will work on 80s.
