its DONE

going active duty tomorrow and leaving for mississippi so my truck is going to have to sit through winter until i can come back and get it registered and take it down. everything is pretty much done just need to put the running boards on and redo the rear doors - the canvas isn't quite sitting right.

thanks for all the help and I couldn't have done this without my dad and the support of my family.

its going to be sad leaving her behind.. enjoy some pics

also I don't actually ahve the truck... its going to sit in CT for this winter with a cover over it (it won't fit back in the tent I made) and I'm probably going to have to pay to have it shipped down here to Mississippi

Amazing restoration...it looks AWESOME, and one to be very proud of!

Seeing these sweet FJ's make me regret deciding to restore this last CJ.

Good luck to you going Active Duty!

WOW.

Amazing man, really amazing.

Love the soft top and doors, especially the soft ambi doors. Don't see that too often.

Congratulations on a job well done. I'm sorry you wont be able to drive it for a while. Thats got to be the hardest part of the whole project.

Great looking truck! Where are you going in MS? Holla at me while you are here. I am in Jackson, MS

Later,

Very, very nice Ant!

I'm sure shipping it down to MS could be arranged. Heck, I'd volunteer to drive it down for you! ;)

I really, really like the half doors, both front and back! Does it drive as well as you hoped?

it drives really well - the manual steering is really smooth and easy. I really don't find it that difficult and there is no play or slop so I got lucky there I guess since I never rebuilt my steering box.

the truck is still really loud and no exhaust but runs smooth but I'm hoping it will be even smoother with some back pressure

brakes are firm and strong - I've only taken the cruiser up to 30 mph or so.. so I don't know if i'll have any driveline vibration or wobble but I'm pretty sure I set the caster and the toe in/out correctly. the brakes lock up and the truck tracks straight pressing hard after 15mph or so - I haven't really had a chance to mess with the prop valve for the rear brakes yet though.

my only two concerns is the clutch releases almost at the top of the pedal movement - i'm not too sure if this has to do with slave cylinder rod length or not.. i just put my stock rod into a fully depressed after market slave cylinder since the rod that came with it was much shorter in comparison

also the gas pedal is really sensitive - i don't have the stock throttle spring on the linkage (i have one of those cut to length ones from napa) so I'm thinking that might have something to do with it

the two above concerns could just be the way these trucks drive - i really have no idea and nothing to compare them to

Always liked the Raytheon CT-156 Harvard II, or in this case the T6A Texan II.

This will be like jumping from one toy into another :D

yes it will!! although this one goes a little bit faster.. has a lot more torque.. and has and explosive charge running through the windscreen...

Wow!

Wow!:clap::clap::clap:

I am blown away how nice it came out--seems impossible you did this out of a tent but good for you!

Mine just got through the UK ministry of transport (MOT) inspection but I still need to do some minor work on it and look at painting the outside---the move slowed me down big time!

Nice to see yours at this stage though--must feel great
