When I pulled the door panel off there was no vapor barrier.

I dug into the parts bin: new master switch, new (NLA) vapor barrier, new door bezel and an inner door handle for good measure.

Back together and functional, everybody go buy all the OEM switches that are still available.

My ignition switch and driver’s door lock were totally worn out. Some magic arrived from Yemen.

I really need to buy one of those. My ignition cylinder is starting to wear out to the point where the key won't turn it anymore.

I need the set also. Key is hard to turn and it just comes right out!

Well, I have reached a major decision point.

I was never really happy with the h55 rebuild. It was notchy and ground in second gear. The truck has almost 500,000 km on it. My buddy @teleskier had been storing an h55 in my garage for the past couple of years and now didn’t have a need for it…Nate the Aussie said we should do something with it…

The plan became clear. New h55, new transfer case, an OME suspension, go over the brakes, new windshield, New dash, and a whole bunch of cleaning up and fixing up. I commissioned my good friend Jimmy @CenTXFJ60 and @RevISK to help and bartered them some parts to start the deal off. Jimmy (and Jeff) came up today and Jimmy took the 61 home on Fetcher.

I’m honored that Jimmy is going to be wrenching on this truck and adding to its life story.

And not to discount Ian @RevISK either.

I’m just excited that one of my trucks is going to be at Jimmy’s Barn and get woven into the fabric of that big old story. When I got my place just outside of Austin five years ago, I wanted to model it after Jimmy’s… To make it a community hub where people could come together. Wrench. Share knowledge and experience and drink a beer and build cool things. So it feels fitting that my truck will finally get to be down at Jimmy‘s for a little bit of fun.

Make sure you put the older 4wd selector shaft (or a new 36313-60050) in the new case. Otherwise the transfer lever won't clear the hole in the tunnel properly.
Alternatively, you can swap the shift lever with 36302-60180

You’ll have to give me more detail. Is this because the notch on the shaft is different or a different location?

That new transfer case has 36313-60130 in it which is about 1" longer then 36313-60050...
Also make sure you plug the 5th bolt hole in the front case half.

@cruisermatt I have a couple of new takeoff 70 series linkages. I’ll pull some parts off and make it work, or we will reuse the older shaft. We have the 1/4 NPT plug at the ready.

@roma042987 well come on up and visit! It’s been too long. This motor still sounds and drives as amazing as the day you rebuilt it.

@orangefj45 thank you, as always, for knowing every single piece we needed and shipping it here at light speed.

Will be nice to see your truck in the "What the hell is going on in Jimmy's barn" thread! It's been too long since I have been here.
