Yanked out the inoperable aftermarket cruise control system. Whoever installed it mounted the main circuit board right behind the clutch pedal. Every time the clutch pedal got pressed all the way in, it contacted the main box. At some point it broke the circuit board. Also the clutch master had a leak in the past and dripped fluid on the board. It’s a goner.

I remember when those were a thing in the 70's. Pretty useless on a 40 though; not enough highway power.

Yeah. I barely use the cruise control on my modern vehicles. I won't miss it on this 40 for sure. Interestingly, there were remnants of an aftermarket cruise control on my '84 60 when I bought it as well. Not as complete as this one, but some things still in place, like the little pull chains on the carb linkage and the brake pedal.

Apparently the power steering pump had leaked and the fan blew tons of grime up onto the inside of the hood. I removed the hood and got busy with Wesley’s Bleche White to clean off the crud. Next was a rub down with Meguiars Swirl Remover and topped it off with Rejex sealant. Of course there is some surface rust under there that I could not get rid of. That got the Fluid Film treatment.

This old farm truck has seen its share of deep mud...deep enough that the frame rails were loaded up with over an inch of hard, dry, concrete-like mud. It took three hours of chipping away at it with various tools, air hose and a shop vac. There had to have been three or four pounds of dirt in the frame!

Dusty's getting a lift, new brakes and all new soft parts. There will be some bling too, like turn signal lenses, shift knob, badges, bumperettes. Eventually, I'll do a front bumper and fix up one of the old 8274's I have laying around here.

Removed rusty hood and windshield latches, sand blasted and powder coated them. Polished the rust-stains out of the hood where these parts sat for almost 40 years and re-installed the latches.

Tag bracket and tag light covers got the same treatment. Sand blasted and powder coated.

More little instant gratification projects going on while I wait for parts. Nathan is helping me out.

Noticed the blaster and vaccum in the background. Hope you are putting it to good use.
Absolutely! I painted the whole thing, re-sealed the doors, replaced the latches and put in a new plexiglass window. I’ve been blasting just fine for a long time now. I’ve done three sets of wheels so far and countless small parts. I am proud to have it and I’m thankful to you for passing it along to me.

More rear end refurb work. Pulled the old tail lights and light buckets and found two pounds of mud packed behind each one. It amazes me that the lights all still worked! Stripped, primed and painted the rear cross member. Added genuine Toyota tail lights and bumperettes, CCOT PVC light buckets and CCOT receiver hitch.

Holy cow! Look at all that crud!
