Nathan and I got half of the OME lift installed over the weekend. It went like this...remove old springs and shocks. Axle on jack stands, completely de-crud axle housing and frame, scuff and paint axle housing and rear frame, install new springs and shocks. The de-crudding and paint prep took more time than the spring swap...a lot more time! I also powder coated the spring plates for just a little more bling.

I finished installing Dusty’s lift this week. Of course I cleaned, painted and powder coated many parts while everything was taken down. Lots more to do, but I’m enjoying this slow roll renovation. Next up, brakes, knuckles and rod ends. Ugh!

Wrenching on Dusty continues to occupy much of my spare time. Drum brakes refreshed with new cylinders and shoes. Bell cranks got a rebuild along with new rubber gaiters.

Replaced all the rod ends with new 555 units. Cleaned and painted the rods and cleared the ends to stave off rust.

Removed both driveshafts. Knocked out the old u-joints and knocked in new Matsuba units. Driveshaft housings got a thorough degreasing and fresh paint.

Next up...knuckle rebuild, fresh front brakes, master cylinder, calipers, rotors and hub refresh.

Amazing progress brother. Will I be inspecting Dusty at Relic? Or will there be another appearance of Bucky?

Heater blower resistor was hanging on by a thread and only running one speed. Got a new one from City Racer @Racer65 . The main plug didn’t match the original, so I unpinned three wires and re-pinned them into my old plug. Works great!

Travis, Dusty won’t make it to CRR this year. Maybe next year. I’m thinking it will be Bucky.

Fresh off the brown truck. Dusty’s new bumper!

Which bumper is that? Winch tray?
It’s the CCOT HFS bumper set up for an 8274. I like the one on the Crockpot so much that I decided to get one for Dusty too, except in silver.

Got one locking hub disassembled. Cleaned it up in the parts washer, blasted with walnut shells, repainted dial, re-greased, reassembled, spit shined and ready to go.

Moving really slow. I’ve only had an hour or so each night for the past few days to devote to pulling wrenches I did manage to get the passenger side knuckle job done. Now to do the driver’s side.

I'm not sure if it is the lighting or some futuristic rotor I am looking at....but damn its pretty.
Futuristic rotor has a rustproof coating on all but the friction surface.

@roadstr6, just read through this from the beginning, absolutely love what you've done with Dusty. Such a good looking 40.
