I was very lucky with my windshield cowl. I was expecting it to not be there and it was literally the best part of the tub. Thats not saying much considering how it looks overall but it's one of the few areas I won't need to fix.

Really cool pic of your tub....what are the tubes in the rear corners of the cab?

That's what I figured. Are you cutting it out or reusing it? It's really cool the roof came off the pickups. I've got a 45 pickup with a removable roof...never have taken it off.

It looked like metal rated for exhaust which I have cut out. It also had horizontal bars that were welded to the top corners of the windshield. Neither ends were plated at the floor or windshield. It was just round stock welded to the body.
I do have plans to build a cage of some sort since I do want to drive around with top and doors removed like a 40.

That's going to be a really cool setup with no top and doors!

Been a while since I updated...between the 70 series meetup and Overland Expo, I feel like I've been gone for months which is far from the case.

Troopy is coming along pretty well. A couple surprises around the windshield which I was anticipating. We'll cut it out, treat everything, weld in new metal and be done with it. This is why when a seller says, "it's just surface rust, it's not rotted", you never listen to them. I knew this was going to be the case.

The windshield frame is one place I got lucky on mine. When we pulled the window there were just a few spots rust... nothing worse than your first pic.

Cool that you're sorting all of this. You keeping that antenna hole?

Antenna hole will be gone....not sure if it is or not yet. Need to go over and see sad Troopy this week to see how the body looks in primer....he was welding up holes on the roof yesterday I think. He sent me one of his usual crappy pics of the body in primer and it looked pretty good. I'm hoping it's as straight as I want it to be. Not getting my hopes up. I know it will be better than what we started with....so that's a good thing.

Looks like my back brace is like yours with a gap/foam/glue. I haven't taken a pic of it specifically....this is all I have of it.

Got to see the truck last week.....AAAAANNNNNNDDDDD.........we're finally in the first stage of primer. Finally. He used 2 gallons of high build and I think he needs another one. He was kind of surprised as he was planning on 1 gallon. These trucks are deceptive....they don't look big but they have a lot of metal on them.

He said he was going to do a spray out yesterday to make sure the color was what I wanted....will check that out on Monday. Supposedly he should be doing the blocking this week then doing jambs and engine compartment. Most of this I've heard before. We still have holes on the roof to weld in. Still have a couple of small holes to weld up on interior. And he still has the rear doors to sand down(filler still on).

Impressed with how straight the truck is...and according to Benji(painter), he says once it's blocked, it will look even straighter. Just hoping he can get the orange peel right on this the paint. I don't want a super smooth shiny truck.

Windshield frame turned out great. Antenna hole is still there...need to take care of that too.

Got the spray out card.....color is deceiving. It goes from really light(almost a light grey) to a dark khaki. Had to go match it up to the car it comes from to make sure....sample seemed really dark. It was spot on.

Not pulling it apart....we have a new piece to install once we get it back. Not too worried about that. I use some really cool double stick rubber trims for flares that would fit in there nice IF we can't get the OEM back in.

The color is really cool....and since I couldn't decide between grey or tan, this color covers both!

Those between fender rubber strips are still available, or at least a couple years ago when I replaced mine

Partsouq was more than happy to sell me a pair of them. Along with a whole bunch of other stuff!

$15 each....just started a new cart. I’ve already had 6 orders delivered from them. Mostly spares that I don’t need immediately like these spacers. But just in case......
