Front floors are dirty but good. Saddam obviously watching over things closely.

Lots of very find dirt had collected in the quarter panels before and after the wheels. Had this truck been in a wet environment, it would have been a big issue.

I seem to recall the right rear having about an 1" of dirt in the bottom.

Guess we know where the interior side panel grille for the vent went....

Top of the wheel well....

Not sure where this was but fair amount of dirt. Rear quarter most likely.

I keep finding the fine dirt in more places... it’s in everything.

It also has coated everything. I’ve been cleaning up my AC lines and it’s just a tough film.

But like you, no appreciable rust. Just dirty.

I’m a bit disappointed you’ve not found any ammo casings.

No ammo, no coins, no hidden map, nothing.......just seat covers and a sticker of Saddam Hussein.

And this is how you get rid of all that dirt.....Hotsy!

I've been reading both you and Ian talk up the Hotsy and have been wanting one. I've priced them a few times on Craigslist... sooooo tempting.

It's one of the best tools I have ever bought. Period. I found mine on CL....it's needed some love but it's been worth it. The level of clean that this thing gets parts to is unlike anything I've ever seen. It's just clean. Amazing. Best $550 I have ever spent.

My only regret is I didn't buy one a long time ago.

I'd say this is an improvement.

Hi C2D, thanks for all the photos. Very, very interesting. I'm just getting into my own Omani mid-90's troopy, so this deconstruction is most interesting. The PO of my truck spent some time and money cleaning and replacing parts and overall did a pretty nice job.

Could I ask, on the new cover on the instruments, is that new from Toyota or polished up using plastic polish? Looks perfect!

Brand spankin' new Toyota instrument glass. All the polish in the world couldn't have fixed the one in my truck. My gauges were a mess.

I swapped over the KM/MPH speedo face from a cluster I had to this one.....it was KMH only. I wanted to use the other gauge cluster so I could get all the gauges but that would have taken too much work. We might do a small aux gauge panel IN the gauge cluster....to keep an eye on some engine vitals.

Been a while since an update. If it weren't for the slow trickle of parts for the Troopy coming in, I'd forget that we have it. Out of sight and out of mind I guess.

Here she was stripped and ready for the painter to work his magic. A LOT of magic. Ha.

The shades of dirt that came out were kind of cool looking....

The Hotsy leaves stuff SO clean with no chemicals. You can feel how clean stuff is. It's remarkable. I buy dirty stuff just to clean now.

Found this guy tucked up in the headliner...under one of the supports.

Was kind of dreading what we were going to do to remove the glue from the headliner......would not have been a fun job for the 19 year old intern. Ha.

But behold the power of the Hotsy.....and it's hot water......the glue went somewhere....not sure where but it's gone.

Lots of water in the rocker sections.....had to drain them. This worked. I can't quite remember why they weren't draining....I went to move the truck after spraying out the interior and water started pouring out from under the doors when I put on the brakes. Probably going to spray something in them once we get it back from paint.

While the kid was cleaning outside.....I was making sure the AC was nice and cool in the shop while polishing this plate out. Can't buy a replacement....and this one was all dumbed up with some kind of toggle switch. Fortunately, it was just a bunch of filler and glue or something. It came right out and was able to be cleaned off the face. Turned out way better than I expected.

There's always one thing on each of the trucks that for some reason is my favorite quirky thing....this 'cooler' only switch plate might be the thing on the Troopy. For some reason I'm fascinated by it.

Stripped out the dash so we could figure out what we were going to need to replace.....simple answer....all of it. Ha.

Lots of fesh-fesh back behind the dash. No surprises there.

Do you think you can just swap the speedo out to get km/MPH? Looking to see what options i have for my 73.
