Had a plan to go to the Tilly Jane A-frame work party and overnighter today with my boy and his friend. I received the Case/ Holland Crankcase breather grommets yesterday so I installed the crank case breather early this morning. Not sure if when I routed the hose if it hit the power steering return line or just a coincidence but after about 10 miles I hear a pop and a loss of power steering. Open the hood to find the hose blown off the return on the gearbox. Went to the shop luckily only 5 minutes away and hopefully go get fluid and be on our way again. I had noticed a sound that had progressively gotten stronger the past day. I thought it was perhaps the belt but found out my front injector was blowing exhaust from the cylinder out the injector. It’s not spraying any diesel only pushing exhaust out. Ran to Napa and got power steering fluid and a better hose clamp. I’m wondering if the PS return kinked when I was weaving the crank case breather line through and finally built up too much pressure and blew. The hose inside diameter actually increased size. Got new PS fluid and filled pump. Turned steering wheel and got fluid to start filling system again. Took it for a drive. Returned and added more fluid as it was still whining. Finally got it the PS working good. Shot a video of the injector exhaust leak.

Decided that it would be best and not go and do some more work on Snowball❄.
My transfer case is touching the under side of my floor with no gap. When driving it’s fine but bumps and especially stops the tcase gets pushed up on the floor board and vibrates like crazy at times. Decided if Snowball❄ Was going to throw a tantrum today it’d be a great time to get the sledge hammer out and beat on it a little bit. I couldn’t even get my fingers over the top of tcase. By the time I finished with a small sledge, floor jack, 3’ HD screwdriver I can now put my hand up there. Felt much better taking some aggression out.
Also since I now was at work I went on a call and helped my brother on a service call.
Got back and decided to get a jump finishing up the cleaning up and getting the hand pump painted and assembled.

A trick I learned from doing a high clearance belly pan on a Jeep was to lower the t case and put a piece of cut pipe (half moon) on top then raise the truck up with the jack under the tcase. Maybe that will dent the tub just enough.

I thought of that but then was wondering if it could damage the tcase. Once i get the injector working I’m anxious to see if the thump is gone.

I’m curious how old my injectors are. Wondering if it’d be worth while to replace and upgrade them since I’ve got this leak.

Description says aftermarket turbo highly recommended but are they trying to sell a new turbo or will performance be limited by the HX-30?

My headlights are just terrible with rainy dark roads so went ahead and ordered @Racer65 set of LED headlights.

Regarding replacing the injectors: I would not jump to replacement just yet since we don't even know what you have. There are two injector shops locally that I can recommend that can pop test them and let you know if they are in good or bad shape. Pulling injectors out is not a hard thing to do so they really don't need to fall under the "while I'm there" clause.

Used heat with pressure washer to degrease the undercarriage today. While under there I decided to take pictures of the clearance I made yesterday between the floorboard and top of transfer case.

I can now actually fit my hand above it. I could barely stick a screw driver up there before.

That’s what I was thinking Mike. Just curious as I was checking for the copper injector washer and saw higher HP injectors.

Took the 60 for a drive to Josh’s. He was putting a new Billet exhaust manifold on my buddy Brian’s 6BT Fummins. My buddy Brian has injectors with 50K miles he said I could have so I think I’m going to try those. It’d be great to have injector with known mileage. The 60 had no more thumping from the transfer case hitting the floor board so a lot more noise is gone. The sound inside is even quieter.

J,

Are these heated? I have non heated ones on my 84 and in WY they didn't produce enough heat and the ice and snow makes the visibility horrible. Lights ice over.

Just my .02

Hey J
After sleeping on it I decided iced up headlights won’t be fun. Canceled my order.
Thanks mister

@TRAIL TAILOR convinced me to bag the LED route. If I wasn’t going to be in snow I’d be a great way to go but that ain’t going to happen.
Marlin Crawler has these on their site. Has anybody used these and liked them?

I had good results with the Hella H4 housings in my 40. It's not as good as LED but way better than the stock sealed housings.

I have IPF e-code h4 housings with stock wattage bulbs 55/60w? And since cleaning up the electrical they’ve been much better. Next step would be a relay harness and brighter bulbs for even more output. Not blind oncoming traffic/led bright but mucho better than stock sealed beams.

Received The Hungry Diesel 3200 gov. spring and 90 THD fuel pin. Mike and I had another tuning session on the VE pump.

Removed the head of the VE pump to get access to the gov. spring.

New 90 THD fuel pin behind Mikes custom cut fuel pin.
Adjusted the smoke screw 1/2 turn CW.
Adjusted fuel screw 1/4 turn CW
Installed new copper washer in the front injector, stopped the exhaust from blowing out the injector.
Took Snowball for a road test and boy was it more responsive. I could now get above 40 mph in 3rd gear with boost getting to 22 psi. 4th gear has boost still getting up to 28psi but it’s a lot more peppy. These diesel motors are so incredible. Driving home up my windy road it felt more powerful. A big gain was 3rd gear helping get into 4th gear. With 3rd getting above 40 mph it’s so much smoother getting into 4th.
