The photos of switching up the fuel lines at the tank are a little confusing, but I'll do my best here.

Here is the stock setup, with the stock return line on the far left and the supply line just to the right with the banjo fitting.

The stock supply line gets cut and replumbed with a barb fitting, since it will now become the return line.

The new supply line is then plumbed into the new banjo fitting with an AN fitting. It's not pictured, but it goes to a short piece of flexible hose to make removing the fuel tank easier(for future maintenance).

Nathan,

Stock pump adequate for the 6.0L? I would assume so as the 6.2L in the JK was fine on the small jeep Fuel pump.. Restriction to making HP on the Dyno was the intake.. We ran out of air before fuel~

Just wondering as I just replaced my in-tank with new OEM...

Thanks,
John

A new stock OEM pump would probably be fine, it supported about 400 crank with no problem in my truck, but I still upgraded for safety, but I would imagine on this build the pump was 20 years old and might not have been operating at 100%. Or might as well change it now instead of waiting for issues in the future.

The specs on the factory fuel pump say that it's up to the task. Our plan was to upgrade the fuel lines to the correct size and then monitor the fuel pressure(especially under load) to make sure that everything is working like it should. If the stock pump doesn't do the job, then we will switch out to an upgraded fuel pump.

Here's the heat shield painted and installed. Things will look a little cleaner once the engine is in place and everything is fastened down.

The twin turbo Supra Denso fuel pump fits well if you need to go that route

I believe the supra pump is rated at 44 psi and the LQ9 is looking for 50-60 under acceleration. Maybe better off over supplying and then regulating down to 50-60 with a vacuum operated regulator.

A mate of mine recently found a 90 psi pump from summit that fits perfectly.

The most common pump among V8 swappers in the RX7 community is the Bosch 044. I also use it in my RX7 with the 6.2L LS3.

I run the Supra Pump in mine with zero issues... Id stay away from the aftermarket Walbro pumps as some have tried them and they are crap and noisy.

The real Walbro pumps are good. The problem is the cheap Chinese junk flooding the market with "fake" Walbro pumps.

It's what I am using. I tossed the original 80 series pump, and tried a walbro. never again with walbro pumps. It could manage the pressure but it was ridiculously noisy. I then switched to the denso supra TT pump and it's been going strong for 2+ years now without an issue - and it's quiet.... very quiet. It has no problem at least for me with the L33 - I would think it should be enough for most of the other LSx applications (non forced induction of course).

...continuing with buttoning everything up. One of the plug wires was contacting part of the airbox, so the coil mount had to get redrilled and clocked just enough to keep any friction or arcing at bay.
