Love that north shore. Need some Ted’s bakery pie for sure!

G, check this out. Wasn’t crazy but I was scared in a particular situation I put myself in today. No video of that, thankfully.

YUGE bird.

Great smoke!

So awesome Pell. Glad you’re getting out and enjoying that place!

Not sure what’s going on with the cruiser. I came back from a work trip and my wife told me she had to fill it up. Seemed weird to me since I just filled it up a week before I left. Well, began monitoring and I’m tracking a decrease in MPGs of approximately 2-3 from my standard 11.9 mixed.

I began to smell a little fuel up by the drivers side front. Charcoal canister maybe? When I remove the gas cap to refuel, it hisses but only briefly. I assume it’s because I usually run my tank down to about 5 gallons before refueling.

Luckily I had a spare canister that was deemed inop by another member who sent it to me. I opened her up and made a huge ****ing mess. It was an accident but I had it upside down and as I was gently prying the top open, it all came out and I had charcoal and the innards of my canister everywhere. I had no idea how it went back together. Luckily, mud has all of this documented.

I found this picture which looks amazing but it is wrong.

The only thing inaccurate in this picture is the plastic cone. It actually goes the other way.

The plastic cone you see here shows the concave side of the cone.

Put it all back together the same way it came apart except more controlled.

I did a crappy job of the JB Weld but it’ll work.

I’ll likely clean it up and install it to see if my MPG issue goes back to normal.

Any other ideas from the mud clinic?

I would say no, you will not. Something else is afoul.

I will admit, I may have incorrectly tracked the MPG. I use tge Fuelly app but my wife doesn’t. In my absence she refilled, I guesstimated and got a really low MPG rate.

So with the potential error in mind, I filled up when the needle was showing 3/4 and ended up pumping 7 gallons for an MPG rate of 9.2.

As of now my needle hit the half mark and I only travelled 75 miles. I usually average 220-240 miles per fill up at approx 19-20 gallons of refuel (depends if my wife drives it or I do).

So something’s seems amiss but I may be off the mark.

Boy that makes me appreciate my diesel. I usually put 17-18 gallons in and that's 280 miles.

This is going to be an interesting process to troubleshoot. No doubt if you start asking questions things will quickly devolve into an “well my mpg is even lower than yours” contest.

This is a great chance to go through that fuel system of yours, I know you did the filter very recently, but I can’t recall what else you replaced/ and or inspected— will you find a culprit there? I’m not sure. fuel consumption is tied to so many systems of this rig. A dragging brake, a clogged injector, a myriad of sensors, etc.

Please let us know your plan, I’m very curious. You’re a methodical dude, you’ll figure it out.

Is the gas tank cracked? They are known to crack in one specific spot on the upper surface at a compound curve of the stamped sheet metal. This is where the tank begins to ascend upward toward its ultimate high level.

My current MPG average is [don't care] and my previous average was [I knew this would suck when I bought a LC] multiplied by a factor of [I like the skinny pedal].

I think Pel got wrapped around the axle on this one

Wait, that actually does sound like something is wrong.

Ignore me.

Your skinny pedal is cooler than most.

It's like my lightning. The skinny pedal makes awesome noises.

Now the skinny pedal has been moved and I can actually get WOT with out hitting the floor it sounds even better and my mileage sucks even more!

I'll have more to report once I finish baselining my fuel consumption again. My wife has been driving the cruiser religiously and she claims nothing seems off to here but WTH does she know right? Anyway, a couple more stops at the pump will tell me if I actually have a problem. My wife reported today the tank is still at the half-way mark and she has about 140 miles on the trip meter so that seems about normal.

@Feldrian do you have any of your performance metrics captured after the fine-tuning? Maybe more vids, 0-100mph timed runs, 1/4mile stats, 0-60 mph, or pics in the wilderness...why do I have to pull this from you? Give us what we want!

On slicks at the track my lightning does 0-60 in 2.2 seconds.

What do I win?
LMAO, you’re replying to yourself. You win a new ARB bumper!
