As you may or may not know, I've collected all the mouldings for my cruiser. Although I have them, I won't install them until my cruiser undergoes her paint; however, the other day the original moulding's plastic coating was warping and I saw it was interfering with my daughter's arm when she sticks it out the window. No worries, I thought to myself, I'll simply use a razor and slice off the warped hard plastic creating a smooth despite fugly surface. My daughter's arm won't get pinched and she'll be happy. Well, my gorilla hands sliced the plastic and at the same time ripped the moulding out of its snug happy place and broke several of the plastic clips. Not wanting to use a new moulding, I replaced the clips. They're like $3 apiece so not cheap considering.

I bought 10 of em just in case I break a few more; one moulding had 6 clips.

Aside from that, I was inspecting the truck for general serviceability and found I lost a rear sway bar link nut. I tried looking for a spare and failed. Being too lazy to replace it I decided to order @LandCruiserPhil heavy-duty sway bar links and the rivnuts and tool to install the newer style bracket that mounts under the frame vs on the side of it. He's a cruiser nut and patriot so I'm excited to support his business. Now I have to decide whether I need the heavy-duty rear sway bar. More to come on that.

Still haven't heard s*** from the Air Force about whether they're going to let me retire, been waiting since October 2021 for word but they told me to expect to hear something in the next couple-few months...c'est la vie.

Other than that, I've had my cruiser for almost a year, put ~7,500 miles on her, and plan to give her another oil change and driveline lube next week. One more Blackstone oil analysis and I'll probably give it a rest as long as the lab results are gtg.

Pics of cruiser at the beach, kids catching crabs, and fire. All good things.

I thought those clips were NLA separate from the belt molding. That has been said again and again.

That's definitely the case for the clips on the moulding under the rear quarter windows. The door clips are still available on their own.

Hold up! Your windows function? Also you let your children roll them down? in my car its like "nonononono wait! Put the windows back up its gonna explooooode!"

Are you talking about the clips on the moulding under the 3rd row sliding windows? What do you mean by door clips?

The clips for the belt mouldings on the door are available separately. The clips for the belt mouldings on the rear quarter panels are not.

Yes, let's forgive my blonde moment; I misread your original statement. I can't find a separate part number for the rear qtr panel moulding clips.

When I got my official message approving my transfer to fleet reserve I carried in my pocket for months. I hope you hear something soon.

Thanks man, it'll happen, just probably not on the timeline I'd like. My paperwork is churning in the admin machine but my GOs all support so it's just a matter of getting through the red tape. Fingers crossed I hear something back by end of Feb.

When it happens you will be able to drag race your LC's on the farm and that will be sweet!

I applied in may 2018, I think i had tentative approval in October and final by December. I retired sep 30, 2019

Okay folks. Oil changed at 201,487 and sample sent to BS for analysis. Driveline greased up with some moly, gotta take care of the things I usually don’t think about. Thanks ih8mud for making me fanatical about maintenance.

Got my rear sway bar links from LCP. They’re stout and rad. Hit ‘em with some paint and went to work. I have the sway bar brackets that are installed on the side of the frame rail and although I have holes for captive nuts on the bottom of the frame rail, I don’t have nuts (sts).
With that in mind, I ordered the links along with the drill bit and the rivnuts from LCP.

Removed both rear tires, put the ass on jack stands and removed the old hardware. Drilled out the holes with the drill bit in the kit and went to town. Some rust prevention, prime and paint for the newly enlarged holes and installed rivnuts for the first time in my life.

It’s hot AF in Hawaii and just like my ex-girlfriend who loved seeing me with dirty, oily, mechanic hands, I was soaked.

Installed everything without much drama, took about 2 hours start to finish.

Drove her around and man, this was what I have been missing. The “clunk” I had is gone, and just like my ex-gf, everything feels tighter and better. Maybe it’s in my head but the cruiser felt much better on the road.

Lovin’ it. What made you choose to pursue this upgrade?

I was underneath my cruiser for a periodic inspection and noticed I was missing hardware from my PS rear link. I also noticed both links had blown out and the rubber seal was no longer sealing. Figured instead of grabbing new OEM ones that are too short, I may as well grab stronger and longer ones that slow me to get my sway bar as parallel to the lower links as possible.
Looks good.
Thanks dude, looking forward to you getting your cruiser back.

That's Helpful! Thanks for posting. Everything on my truck looks old and tired, but not necessarily blown out. I'll take a closer look...Thanks Pell!

nice work!
Thanks Mike!! I expect one day we’ll be able to roll together. We’ll bring G, M, D, and whomever else wants to rescue me from the precarious situations I’ll definitely find myself in. #nowinch
