Is there a special way to seat the injectors? I got everything installed and put back together, fired it up and at least half the injectors are leaking significant fuel.

When installing the injectors the lower rubber O rings don’t seat firmly into the manifold, so I seated the upper O rings on the injectors to the fuel rail and then positioned the injectors when putting the fuel rail back in. It seems like it may be leaking from the fuel rail side but I’ll have to confirm

Read the procedure in the (freely available in the resources section) factory service manual (fsm). I believe the fsm says to lubricate with fuel. I use Sylglide and it seems to work fine.

Alright, injectors are installed. Truck is running smooth, good power, stable idle - a bit of hiccup at low rpm when given gas, exhaust smells a little lean at times. Drove about 20 minutes to test and I still have CEL 25 and 26. Intermittently at this point.

Recap:
- engine grounds are good
- New O2 sensors with clean connections
- VAF is good
- Intake tube is good
- No damage to engine wiring harness at EGR
- all vacuum lines have been replaced
- all evap lines have been replaced
- new pcv valve and hoses
- new fuel injectors
- verified 12v for injectors at ECM
- new gaskets for EGR, throttle body, and upper intake manifold
- new spark plugs
- new dizzy rotor, cap, coil wire and spark plugs wires

"No damage to engine wiring harness at EGR"

Was that a visual/external inspection or did you open the engine harness section located near the EGR pipe and look at the individual wires?

I opened the section up. No signs of any melting or damage to the wires.

Figured I’d provide an update in the event anyone else is running into this issue.

I continued to get CEL25/26 and while I was certain I had no vacuum leaks after replacing all the rubber lines, I decided to get one of those cheap Amazon smoke testers. Upon smoke testing I discovered my EGR vacuum modulator was leaking air out of the unit itself. I capped off the lines and disabled the EGR while a new modulator was backordered.

During this time I would get CEL25/26 only momentarily about 1-2 minutes after startup and it would disappear after another 2 or so minutes. Doesn’t seem to matter if the vehicle was hot or cold.

I put the new modulator in last night, we’ll see if there’s any changes. The car is running better than at any point since I’ve owned it, so I’m not too concerned.
