Del, i would either go over the existing engine in there or drop a 22RE in there. You can pep up a 22R or 22RE with a few mods and upgrades (cams, headers, etc) and still keep the stock look and not have to molest a early mini truck. The EFI is nice to not have to mess with a carb any more.

My 2 centavos:grinpimp:

You find out where you are heading next?

Alex,

I am leaning towards a 22RE. Looking like I am going to wait on the engine and deal with it at another time. It curretnly runs fine minus some carb issues.
Will make determination after I have driven it for a while.

Currently on another tour of that lovely place in SW Asia. Wont be home for a long time. Thats why I made the decision to have Stan build the truck while I am gone.

95% of all the parts should be at Stans shop by the end of January. I wont be back home until the end of next year so we have plenty of time to put it together the way I want it.

I wish I could get a break. looking very hard into doing some sort of instructor job where I can stay at home for a few years until I retire. Not likely but I am going to try.

How have you been?

THE MIRRORS?

no idea what the part number is and they are with the truck. I basicly found them on amazon or ebay for like $20.00 . Not the best quality or Toyota brand but I just need them to work. and they look alot better than the factory rusted out originals

Update for the year.

More parts ordered for the project.
Decided that since I have already bought all new drivetrain and not
Knowing the condition of the transmission. I might as well change that out as well.
So I placed an order for a W56 heavy duty from Marlin Crawler. That should take about 8 weeks to arrive to the shop.

I also decided that since we will be rebuilding the new axles I might as well pay now to get an arb installed in the front. So I will be ordering an arb locker for the front as soon as I here from Marlin to confirm the part number.

As soon as those items arrive the drivetrain should start getting mocked up and set under the truck.

Hopefully the builder provides me pictures of the progress.

Good luck. I'm on week seven of my six week turn around. They won't answer my emails so I have no idea what the status is. Guess I'll hit the phone and see if I get anywhere.

I get my emails, replied to almost immediately. My emails are about parts questions though

The new transmission should finally be arriving. Ended up being 11 weeks instead of 8 but at least I got it.
Next round of parts will be ordered tonight.

ARB locker for the front
ARB compressor
Radesign triple sticks.
I still need a power steering pump no body seems to have any in stock.

I swear this thread will get more interesting once I am back in the States.
for now the parts pile continues to grow

Just placed the order from Marlin Crawler for
ARB front Locker
ARB compressor
body mount kit

build should start once these parts arrive.

Still need to order

RADESIGN triple stick shifter
Drive shafts
power steering pump
and im sure a few misc. items

Holy cow Del, that looks awesome! The front axle is pure truck porn! :p

I have that exact same All Pro parking brake, just an FYI the factory paint is not very good, mine has gotten very rusty. I highly suggest you take it back off, have the mount and the arm sandblasted and properly painted, maybe even powdercoated. I also welded the bolts to the back of the disc before I re-installed, but it's kinda late for you now. Getting a wrench back there is very difficult when you're under the truck. I also swapped all the hardware out for stainless (except for the driveshaft bolts).

Hopefully the rear will be ready in the next week.

It will have
ROCK JOCK HOUSING
4:88 gears
ARB LOCKER
Longfield axles
Complete rebuild kit
Disc brake conversion

Thanks for the complement KLF

Looking for a front shaft for the truck. If anybody knows a lead on where to find one U could really use he info.

Looing good brother! Is that a custom front axle setup or one of their existing ones?

You still residing in the Panhandle?

I am using the original dif housing. Everything else is new.

Trail gear rock jock housing / 3 inch wider than stock
Dirty 30 axles
6 shooters
High steer kit
ARB LOCKER
4:88 gears

Still in the panhandle. Finally get to go back to NC next summer. Can't wait.
