Well had the tower gussets made, unfortunately I'm not sure how strong they would be. They are made out of 1/4" but are pretty thin in some areas. It's weird how things look different on the computer screen. I may just go with the plain ones.

What does everyone think?

Well after being sick the last couple of days I finally got the shock towers and shocks in position.

Does anyone see a problem with the way they are mocked up?

I don't want to weld them in and realize I goofed up somewhere. They are angled back a degree or two, but I figured this should be ok since it's a shackle reversal and the axle will want to move back during compression. Thoughts?????

Also, these shocks will eventually be replaced, just using them to see how everything looks.

I will be cutting off the axle shock mount and using a double shear axle mount from RuffStuff.

Use the gussets with the round holes. The TEQ one has too many areas that will see increased stress and the likelihood of crack propagation from these areas is higher. Not to mention the overall area or remaining material looks to be less, which also contributes to reduced structural integrity.
Cool gusset though. I would re-purpose it for something not structural.

Well I changed my mind again. I decided to go ahead and pick-up the original rivet holes and not weld the towers on.
I had to make a tab to go under the gusset to use the original holes.

This will allow me to get a nice coat of epoxy between the frame and the towers

Over all I think it turned out really good.

Put at least one bolt through the front face where the factory f250 holes were. The gusset on top is over kill. If the f250 didn't need it your 40 certainly doesn't.

Yes, I did, I was able to use the aft rivet hole from the original shock mount.
I guess I forgot that picture.:bang:

You should be good to go. Looks great. Really like the straightened shock tower. I hacked my fender.

Here's the location of the bolt. I really didn't want to drill any holes in the frame that's why I beefed up the gusset area.

Do you think this one bolt on the side and the two on top is enough?

The bolts should be strong enough, its only a shock absorber so forces are always dampened.
Do you have enough clearence for the sideways axle displacement?

Thanks for the replys, "Sideway axle displacement" I'm not really sure what your talking about. Can you explain?

I think that turned out great and will be plenty strong. Have you thought about going with wider axles? Or are you going to keep the stock axles and the width they have?

As if right now, my plans are to keep the original axles. Maybe in a couple of years, I might decide to go wider.
I have so much more to do on this rig.
My first goal is to get it put together and road worthy. :steer:
