Bottom half of the ambi doors.

Complete with OE latch and lock. A lot of work went into making this particular idea work. Both doors utilize some OE internals that are slightly reconfigured IOT to compliment the OE hinges and give the doors a complimentary “nod” toward an original “look”. Once 2.0 is back in the BG, if anyone is interested, I can post up additional pics of the mods/mechanisms and components.

Incredible job on the paintwork too. Quality work from Alex/Dan at Alexander Restorations. @Atram

Great work guys.👍🏻 🍻 🏆 🥇

Geez, get some mud on that cruiser!

Things are winding down. Still some small assembly required. Passenger door is on deck for installation.

I’ll post up some “Full Monty” pics as soon as everything’s back together.

If all goes well and the weather holds, 2.0 will be making its shake down cruise to a new skeet range next week. New range is “mucho gooder” than the range we were using last year. 5 stand, sporting clays, two trap ranges and two skeet ranges. That is high cotton for sure. I’ll grab a couple pics with 2.0 pulling ammo duty.

If I close my eyes to where I can just start to see some light coming through, your paint job and my spray can paint job look exactly the same.

I totally get it..If I close my eyes, I’m in the Bavarian Alps having a stein(s) of Hefeweizen and listening to an Oompah band.

We should hang out..🍻

If you both close your eyes at the same time and imagine hanging out….

Ahhhhh, group hug. Happy primate sounds.

Rainy day in Babylon.

The great pollening has begun. I get some crazy inner ear reaction to the yellow/green baby powder that’s coats everything left outside. It’s like a late night on shore leave without the cold snacks.

Still marking time on the front doors. Placed an order on the 14th and it’s still “processing”. I hope that’s not shorthand for we’re really out of stock.

So, with the imminent move of 2.0 to warmer latitudes, I’m find myself scouring the MUD Classifieds/craigslist/etc looking for a suitable replacement for 2.0. Thinking SBC compliant, some (minor) assembly required and rattle can ready. Well earned patina is ok, the red scourge/rot is not.

Anyway, just kicking the can (tires).

Soft Top sitting loosely-goosey sans hardware/fasteners in the 1st mock-up. Letting the top relax a bit. JMHO, warm weather installation when possible, is the best option. A little time hanging out in the sun is a plus.

Slick back doors!

Thought I would post up while the caffeine is still flexing the cortex.

2.0 is on final approach, kick vents are down and the jump seats are stowed in the upright position. Then I get a call from the Captain. Apparently, some of the door hardware, is not befitting the newly designated range mule.

The fresh paint on the doors really highlights the age and abuse of the 1.0 era outer door handles, inner door handle bezels and window cranks. Another wink and a nod to Alex and Dan for laying down the incredible paint work but, it did highlight the threadbare look of the old hardware.

Cursory interweb search indicates that OE is available but probably won’t get here in time for the final shake down. Short term, we’ll go ahead and install what I have for the return trip. I need to new door cards made so I’ll wait to add the new hardware. Talked with “JR the younger” at the upholstery shop and we should be able to slide 2.0 in to the shop without consternation.

Like most things on 2.0, the new cards will give a nod to an OE look but will be door cards of a different color. 😉

FRAGO-

Looks like 2.0 won’t make the original SP time hack.

Someone, who shall remain nameless in order to protect the guilty and, it’s against MUD policy to incriminate yourself, missed a part number when “they” placed the last “Door parts” order.

In light of this recent misadventure, I may have to rethink that big promotion, company car and expense account I was considering handing out to the “parts guy”. Instead, looks like it’s double secret probation season in the Land of Nod. Probably for the best. Knowing him he’d spend it on beer anyway.

Currently “inbound”.

Is that the lower window run? Those are "fun" to replace.

Just take them off and roll with the 1960’s high tech safety strap…

It is going to be a little odd having doors again. The quick hinges are looking like my hind sight was “50/50”.

Just keep them rolled up...no rattle.
