You must have done something else by now lol

Yup....I rented a car dolly and towed the ole' mule 132 miles from the "Garage" to a nuther (<it's a word) garage in Kingwood this past Sunday. Trying to tie up some nit-noid small issues before I tackle the leaf springs. I have also been scratchen' the old cranial housing group over the right shock(s). My original idea was the Bilstien 5100 series. I've also been kicken' around the idea of the Skyjacker M95 series shocks. In doing so I have determined that the internet is a tool of some lesser imp developed to bedevil the days of some hapless TLC owner. Jury is out on the shocks (go figure). I'll make the trip back to the "Garage" this weekend IOT pickup the Hard top and ambulance doors, gaskets and associated hardware.

What I haven't done is buy a rear heater core. $150 sheckles for a core goes against my reasoning, checkbook and at least one of the Ten Commandments. I also have a couple of "Mystery" pieces I'll need assistance from the esteemed forum in identifying. So far it's an errant "resistor" and a strange small "Hanger" I had packed away with my passenger side horn......

Wrapped part of the front harness and mounted the horns. More to follow.

4wheelparts has Bilsteins 4 fer $279.

I'll check those out. Don't you wish the barter system was still in place? I have this amazing ball of dryer lint that has to be worth something!!!

BTW Brüder im Geiste, your "fishing partner" is looking very nice!!!

Dizzy is wearing it's top hat again...

THIS --> "With all this time on my hands I find myself "wandering". It's not the aimless wandering that Danny takes medication for, this is important stuff, childhood memories and such. Like the summer Granny taught me to shoot."

I do not wander aimlessly!! I meander!!

meander
[mee-an-der]
verb (used without object)

1.
to proceed by or take a winding or indirect course:
Danny meandered through the valley.

2.
to wander aimlessly; ramble:
The talk meandered on.

I utterly despise Rancho 9000 shocks - what an amazing waste of money those were. I ran them on my H3, beside limiting travel on the front and rear, they also would start being noisy after a couple miles of dirt road. They lasted less than 10k miles. I replaced them with superlift (IIRC, think Monroe shocks only cheaper) that work really well. They are for a lifted chevy truck, cost $127 for 4.

Bilsteins are okay, but if you're going to spend that change - why not simply buy Kings or Fox shocks and get rebuildable/revalvable?

Ive had mine for a year. No noise no leaks. They have to be mounted the correct direction or else they don't work. I tested them before I put them on and confirmed this. I like them because I can adjust them when I put the hardtop on to compensate for the additional load. Since their are no shocks tuned for a modified fj40 suspension, this was the cheapest route to allow for some tuning. Im not a shock expert enough to custom tune my own set of rebuildable shocks by installing different valving. Plus they are lifetime warranty and they gave me a 100 dollar visa card with them. I know procomp makes a adjustable shock as well, and I suppose I could have gone that route too.

I have the Rancho 9000 on my diesel dually, I use it for hauling a Lance truck camper. A big Lance camper, 1121 model, the Ranchos are absolutely outstanding, I turn them up when loaded, and turn them down unloaded. I also have an air compressor under the hood and firestone airbags on the rear axle, running 120 psi on the bags and the shocks turned up, the ole dodge rides like a Cadillac.

My only complaint is the adjustment valve knob has seized up on one of the front shocks, too much east coast salt.
