I feel like the doors and tailgate are taking forever! Enough to start wearing me down. Don't see the forward progress. Every part needing some rust repair. Many pieces, stripping, cutting, bending, welding, bondo, sanding and primer. Do it all over again, 4 doors and a tailgate. The payoff is I know we're doing it the right way.

Well..... we're pretty much into real time for the build. We are now about 18 months into the project. Working on finishing the doors. This door needed work on the underneath/bottom of the door. Had crazy bends to match the contours on the bottom. Took this piece to a fabricator to make the bends. Pleased with
results.

Finally..........last door. All doors needed some form of repair or replacement metal. Looking forward to moving onto something different. Garage full of carcasses.

Next up.....something different. Fenders!!
 
Up until this time I was most impressed with the rear wheel well restoration but you'll see from the fender repairs that they rank right up there with the transformation.

From the beginning of the project I have been in search for replacement parts and could not locate any worthy fenders. Mine were both in pretty bad condition. I didn't know if they we're repairable?

We were able to take a sheet of metal and cut, bend & fit new fender tops.

Next up is to weld in the replacement parts. We also installed reinforcement plates on the underside of the fender for future installation of the lights. You'll see replacement of the fender bottoms compliments of @bobm.

Great job!👍 Hard to believe all that for just a couple fenders. Don’t worry - at some point you’ll almost forget that you did all that work.
I love your attitude @RUSH55. I've been around long enough to know you're exactly right. You do some projects and days, months, years later you look back and wonder how you found the time and the energy? At the end of the day I love to feel like I've accomplished something.
 
In cleaning up the fenders we found this weld on the inside/ back . We can only assume it's a factory weld? Is this common? Are we correct?

I only say that because I spent all of last summer doing sheetmetal work on the tub, then switched to frame work. After several months I was scrolling through my pictures and saw stuff I’d almost completely forgot I’d done. Didn’t take long😄
