My '75 looks like it is for a '76? Notice the channel behind the expanded metal screen.

Frame dimensions

1980, front frame is 726mm wide, the radiator supports are 230mm appart.

from 75 chassis manual, front frame is still 726 mm, no dimensions given for the radiator mounts.

from 71 chassis manual, same front frame width, no dimensions given for radiator mounts, I measured my 73 frame and they are about 11-3/4" apart (300mm). This tracks because I had to move the driver side stud on the factory AC radiator mount 2-3/4" (70mm) to fit my 73 frame.

There were canvas-like pieces that go under the radiator frame and on top of the chassis frame. They lift it up some. You might gain clearance if you didn't already install those parts, or if you add a thicker piece to lift the radiator frame up some? Then, set the fan shroud a bit lower?

I am missing the tension springs for the early pre 72 headlight buckets. Does anyone know a good replacement for these?

62010 is the 72+ spring, they look to be shorter. The early spring, 39020 looks longer and is NLA.

If someone has one of the early 39020 springs they can measure, that would be great, thanks.

I am using the early bib on my truck. These use the domed headlight buckets. I also have the factory AC radiator and am finding the two want to occupy the same space. My truck is a 73 and I see the correct radiator support and shroud is for a 72-75. But looking at the 76-80 version, it looks like it would be a direct fit also. They appear to take the same radiator. Also, there was a change in 1980 to a different support and shroud. There is conflicting information if the radiator also changed in 1980.

I am asking for the collective experience of the forum to get the radiator/support/shroud compatibility information in one spot.

I am leaning toward just getting an 80+ support and shroud if I can find one because I think it will likely put the fan hole in the same spot as my factory AC setup.

Where did you find a A/C radiator for a FJ40?

Besides the new bezel and slightly wider apart headlights the bib is thinner to make room for the A/C condenser.

Never paid attention will the later light buckets that are open in the back not work on the early bib? That wound help with the interference.

The later open buckets require the round openings in the early bib to be cut to fit. The 72+ open buckets fit fine with the AC radiator.

I have had that factory AC radiator set up for at least 15 years. I don't recall where I got it from. It is freshly re-cored though. The radiator and the matching support and shroud will be up for sale.

I'll try and watch for it. I don't followed the want ads as much as some. Still working on getting my parts out of Australia. I already had the factory controller here. Have the factory evaporator there. Bibs are a non issue and would use it in the 82 I'm collecting parts for.

I put together a pretty extensive Xcel spreadsheet with all the part numbers, photos and diagrams for my 73 project. Unable to post on the forum tho, file type not allowed.
