All stripped down ready for cleanup and paint. Looked pretty good on the inside. No telltale metal deposits. Prepping the third members to go to the shop and get rebuilt.

Upgraded my stand for the third members. They are such a clumsy part to move around and try to clean/ service.

Starting with the nose down on the third member, I'm able to go around and clear off the gasket material. Flip it over and you can rotate it around and wire wheel the entire surface.. Once cleaned off and prepped , apply paint without getting over spray on the ring gear.

Just got the third members back from the shop so now I have everything ready for the axle assembly. Did a quick trip by Georg at Valley Hybrids and picked up a trail tamer bearing kit, thanks Georg! Hopefully I will have them installed in the next couple weeks.

Starting on the transmission and transfer case today. I'm going to replace the speedometer housing on the transfer case with a upgraded unit from Georg at Valley hybrid. He modifies an existing OEM housing with dual seals to keep the oil where it belongs.... inside the case. Lol.

I should have done that on mine… hopefully no issues. Looking good!

Thanks Tommy. I'm a firm believer in smart upgrades. That one's definitely a no brainer. Georg takes all the guesswork out of it. Just replace your speedometer plastic gear and you're good to go.

Down at Valley hybrid in Stockton. I'm getting the axles assembled and dialed in. It's nice to have Georg's bench stock handy. Come to find out the original c-clips were a little too narrow, too much slop in that rear end.

I snagged one of these four plus bull bars from Georg a while back. Four plus is not making them anymore, but George has them. Just a bear to ship. Don't quite fit on a pallet...

Got the axles home and unloaded. Ready to set them in place with those new parabolic springs!

Big shout out to Garrett at Valley hybrid in Stockton. Very knowledgeable and professional individual.

Got the axles installed today. Went pretty smooth, considering I'm working by myself. Parabolics were a lot less girthy than the ome that's for sure!

Media blast day today! Getting the 40 & 45 done. Anxious to get into the rear quarters on the 40. Usually it's never a good story. LOL.

There goes the neighborhood!😛

There goes the neighborhood!😛
The property is backed up to an orchard and we had a prevailing wind that blew the residual cloud into the orchard.

The dustless blasting keeps the nuisance dust down, alot better than conventional blasting. He used crushed wine bottles for the operation. There was a slight scent of merlot in the air.... LOL

Well got the 40 all cleaned up. I did learn something about that wet sandblasting. It is a PITA to clean up. It packs in every corner you can't see. Been a bear getting all the residual glass out. I'll stick with dry sandblasting.

Decided to pop the head off of the motor. Everything was looking pretty good until I got to the cam. It also looks like I'm going to need to have it bored out. I just can't put any money into an F motor. I was thinking I was up for getting a valve job and new gaskets that was about it. I'm going to drop a newer 2f with a 5-speed in it.

Bombs away!

While waiting on the tub to get to get finished, I am working on a few details to make the five-speed at home. I am building a crossmember for the 5-speed. I decided to go with a sor header. Bought a remflex gasket. The one that came with the sor header didn't impress me. I'm planning on using the stock skid plate and installing a spacer out of thick wall square tubing.
