I found a couple more small glimpses of the tube hanging down during rocker repair. Thank you @diesellibrarian

Does anyone know what this part looks like in real life? 71141-90322
From pictures I have been able to find it looks like a washer, but the parts diagram doesn't.

@Engineer8000

Going by what’s on my ‘75…it seems to be a 1” size washer about 3/32 thick….this is only a guess as I did not remove it but…this also could be something someone added somewhere in the last 50 years?

Much respect on this work

Ready for test fit. I ordered this 6 way sealed connector for the rear chassis harness connection. I need a few other 6.3mm bodies to replace a few originals that are kind of rough. I added a charge light relay that will turn on the brake light if the alternator dies. I wrapped the main power wires from the ignition switch to the fuse box separately so if I have a melt down, it will not damage the rest of the harness.

When I took my accelerator pedal apart for plating I did not take any pictures of it because the fj40 is one of the most photo documented truck on the planet. Well, another win for the 73 only

73 the last year of the cable for the accelerator and first year for the new style steering column.

Took these a while ago of line to the charcoal canister. Not the best pictures. Cruiser is tight against a work bench. Uninsulated garage and 110° doesn't help. Probably September before it cool down enough to roll it out of the garage.

I looked on my microfiche set panel for that p/n to see if it showed a description for the part. To add to your mystery, the p/n you show doesn't come up on my microfiche. The set is dated Jan '81, so maybe your diagram added the part after that date. As you see on the second pic the p/n jumped from 71138 to 71144. So, that said, I'm sorry as I'm of no help.

I do not see that spacer shown or listed looking at a diagram on line. Not sure the whole history of my 73 but I know in the thirty years I've owned I did not remove a spacer.

Found the part number for plug when headrest weren't installed, 71756-90321. Of course it's NLA. Toyota calls it cover air hole. It's 71756 on the microfiche above.

I questioned that p/n and their description when I saw it on the fiche. Didn't want to inadvertently give bad advice.

I have spent some time searching for a good picture of the tubing hard line between the vapor separator and the charcoal can under the passenger side floor. Does anyone have a good shot of this for a mid 70s FJ40? Thank you.
