4x4 Labs Owners Chime In...Single Vs. Dual Swingout?

My 3 cents. I think most people have already said it. Dual serve much better purpose, Tights spaces, weigh depend if you park level or not. This is a dual swing out made by 4X4Labs. Quality is among the top builder out there. My buddy just bought a Slee dual swing out, we compare side by side. 4X4Labs has a cleaner look and higher angle then Slee. If you live in Northern Cal. I took advantage of their in house installed (2 hrs. labor charge) while I wait. Luke Porter is the owner of 4X4Lab, he and his crew did a clean installed. I'm glad I went to this route when coming to choose the rear swing out. I'm Sure the Pooch is Happy as well when we at Mojave National Forest.

x20 on doubles. I take the gas can carrier off when not in use and always keep the spare on. Super easy to open both. Glad i bought the dual for sure...

Just another dual pic for your own edification...

correct me if i'm wrong, but aren't you limited to only one attachment then? so...only a spare?

I have the duals. I can open them inside my garage door without having to open the garage door. The shorter length makes all the difference...yes i just said that...:flipoff2:

Love mine! Luke added some extra goodies for camping. I have a bracket for a 1lb propane bottle and a flip down table for cooking on
Tell me more about this flip down table - could you post a pic or two of the bracket and how it's anchored? I'd love to add that to my 4x4 Labs swingout

@vegansbane, I bought the propane bracket from adventure trailer and shipped it to Luke at 4x4labs. He fabbed up a three can carrier with it attached. I believe he has done this for a few other customers too. Here is a clear pic of the bracket before we added the table. Luke remade mine and added the table. He might still have my original one if you want it

I went with the labs and no swing outs since I access my rear storage 10 times a day. Get better tires/wheels and you don't need a spare :D

@slow95z Need a spare if your going places where self recovery is mandatory. Spend even more money and get flip up rear windows!

That's what h1 wheels and tires are for. Run flats ftw. But seriously, go duals if you are doing it. I use my rig in places I can just deal with it and never travel solo. No cool trails near me sadly.

Nice tank mount. I was thinking of talking to Luke about fabricating a 10Lb Co2 tank within the 3 jerry can spot. I'd use two jerry cans and have the remaining space for the air tank. I don't run an air compressor and would like to have the compressed gas outside the rig. Wonder if anyone's considered this setup?

I have a single. I'll see how much of a headache it will be down the road. I've had it for almost a month now and haven the had any issues with clearance.

Here's a pic the day after we finished it.

this hits on a note not really mentioned..... It depend on if you are buying or building.
Sounds like the OP is planning on buying one.

If you buy one yes... one attachment. Tire usually ... may add on a High Lift i suppose and call it 2.

Besides the standard "its too big" Ive seen a few complaints about the single full length offered by 4x4labs shaking or rattling on the trail with a 35/7 spare. After reading a few such reviews I decided to make my own and make it 3/4 length and use rectangular 2x3'' box tube vs square as provide by mfg. It clears my trailer fine, holds a tire, a high lift and 2 jerry cans, have yet to encounter space concerns, and it doesnt budge bombing down FSR's. Buy what works best for you or make what you want.
